I'm researching the 1931 Laird Super Solution for a possible future project using the Williams Bros. 1/32" kit. I've noticed that the national civil registry decal- NR-12048 is in a black color instead of Viridian Green while the other decals (particularly #400) come in "Kodak Yellow". The kit instuctions mentioned (in fine print!) that the aircraft (or a replica thereof ?) was presented to the EAA museum and these markings represent the restored version. When the aircaft appeared at the 1931 Bendix race, the a/c apparently had the Viridian Green registry (per Historic Aviation Album c. 1970) and the kit instuctions do not explain the registry in black lettering. Anyone have any ideas? I have not reached a conclusion yet but it would be nice to be able to match Viridian Green lettering and numbers with the paint if need be. Thanks.
