Dear Members,

Can anybody comment on Alclad high speed silver, its properties, possible application examples, etc? I couldn't find this product at the official website, neither among the "regular" finishes, nor in the "high shine" ones.

In my mind "high speed silver" was a British term for one of their silver paints in the 50's/60's. In other words, I think it's more of a "name" than a type of "finish". What little I read of it was it was a mix of silver paint and gloss varnish.

It sounds like Alclad has reproduced a silver paint that is needed for RAF planes of that period, as opposed to producing a different color of natural metal finish.

Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will be along soon with a more definitive answer.

It's available at Sprue Brothers. Instructions are to apply over Polished Alclad gray primer or polished bare plastic.
