A really GOOD Jaguar E Type (XKE) in 1/16th scale

Recommended Posts

Despite the E Type's iconic status as a classic car, there have only been a few kits issued to my knowledge over the years.Certainly nothing recently.

The 2 big 1/8th scale kits by Monogram (now Revell) that has been re released a number of times over the years, and the Bandai one that is actually completely a different kit in its own right, and also very rare. There was a delightful 1/24th scale kit by Gunze Sangyo that had white metal parts. This kit was also sold under the Airfix label for a short while. Airfix of course had their own kit in 1/32nd scale. Really old and poor by today's standards. Revell's 1/24th scale E type was first issued way back in the 60's or 70's and is really showing its age now. Revell Germany should really re tool this kit and bring it up to the standards of their more current offerings.

There was a 1/24th scale white metal kit by SMTS in England of which there were only 50 made, and this looks quite good being fully detailed and with Photo Etched Wire Wheels.

Cannot think of any others.....discounting any 1/43rd scale stuff of course.

It is the sort of kit that Meng or Trumpeter could really do justice to in either 1/16th or 1/12th scale.

Trumpeter have already done the GT40 in 12th so an E type would be a nice period companion.
