  1. Super builds and in a small scale!
  2. I built this sometime around 1984 or 85. Very first attempt at weathering, after reading one of Shep Paine's books. Thanks for looking
  3. You asked about louvers, here is what mine look like after being laser slit & pressed. These are for my M-20 in 1/24. .012" brass, not .030".
  4. Awesome, The Peirce Arrow is so overlooked in scale modeling. Thanks for sharing
  5. Superb craftsmanship, great to see others working in mixed media for a scratch build!
  6. The louvers are pressed in .030" brass. I made a louver press and pre-slit the brass sheet. Those particular louvers are in rows of 20 long & were originally done for a Diamond T M-19 prime mover. I think to date I have made 5 or 6 louver presses that work in a vertical vice.
  7. 30 out of 30 The first scale modeling magazine I had via the post office was International Modeler, edited by Brick Price. Still have all my issues in my file cabinet.
  8. I learned on a Bridgeport belt drive J head, 8 speeds to do everything. When I built this model, I did much of the milling on the actual Lagun. Nice machine, big 2.5 hp motor, the variable speed head was a nice treat back then. I now teach machining fundamentals, manufacturing and metallurgy at a local college. Currently we have 8 vertical mills, 4 generic VS head machines, 3 Bridgeport's and a massive Wells-Index with a 56" table. Cheers
  9. Thank you kind sir. I had a blast back in the late 1980's building it. Still have this in a crate in my workshop, still waiting for a suitable display. Cheers
  10. Originally scratch built before 1998, Still looks the same in these photos from last year. Working from factory drawings and photographs, reworked resin copies of the tires from a Payhauler 350 kit.
  11. I built / kit bashed / scratched this over 3 decades ago, These photos are from last week. Based on the AMT KW Alaskan Hauler kit, and the AMY Peerless log trailer kit. Parts box engine, resin wheels & tires on the truck & scratch built round reach trailer components.
  12. Feaking Awesome !
  13. I posted more on the Vertical Mill model in the miscellaneous category.
  14. I scratch built this 1/3 scale model in 1987 during my apprenticeship, worked mainly in polycarbonate, ABS, aluminum, mild steel, and brass. Some WEP (water extended polyester resin), Wren board and copper. It took over 350 hours to complete, X, Y & Z table movements worked when first built, time has sized things up a bit, but it is still nice to have in my collection. Cheers Rick
  15. 1/25 scale scratch built Oshkosh R-11 refuel / defuel tanker in US Air Force trim. Finished in 1999, still looks the same, was one of my favorite builds.
  16. Solid workmanship, Great topic so many possibilities!
  17. Greetings fellow scale modelers. It has been far too long since being a member, good to be back. I have been scale modeling for over 40 years. I prefer to model in 1/25 & 1/24 scale, although do enjoy 1/35 vehicles from time to time. I mostly build class 8 trucks, off highway mining & logging equipment, super haul trucks, some trailers, heavy machinery and so on. I work mostly in ABS, brass, resin and styrene, but have used paper, wood, elastomers, aluminum and certain alloys as the work defined. I have done commission work in the past, but have only been building for myself since 2008. Occasionally I build figures in 1/12 & 1/16, aircraft (civilian) in 1/72, WW2 military aircraft in 1/48, 1/32 & 1/24. Single largest scale model to date, 1/8 Trojan front end loader & 1/3 Lagun Vertical Mill. I am a journeyman industrial model maker with over 35 years in the trade, and am currently teaching the craft at a local college. Nothing has been as rewarding as teaching this craft to others who show interest in continuing applying the knowledge. Cheers Rick
