I am going to pickup brake fluid in the next few minutes. I have my fingers crossed! super clean is too toxic to use in the apartment.

I tried the good old paint remover from Lowes. Didn't even touch it. But one thing I never thought of was using Tamiya paint remover, actually our hobby shop is not great but I will talk to them about it. Thank you

Now that makes a lot of sense! Lexan bodies need the extra firmness. Mystery is solved for me. I was standing in the hobby shop with the model I was about to purchase asked the guy working there what paint he recommended, boy was he wrong. thank-you very much for the comment. would be nice if that was indicated on the can!

I have now tried everything suggested on most utube channels and internet sights, nothing works . 99% alcohol......Oven cleaner..........Paint remover..........etc etc etc I am beat! ( one model in the garbage.) Tamiya is not ever going to grace space again! I know all these manufactures are trying to save the planet but maybe TAMIYA should take a look at the problem because with all my trying I have probably put more crap down the drain in the past two days to destroy a few species.

Did the oven cleaner. I will try paint stripper. Thankyou

I have not painted a model for a number of years and I painted a car body. Having not painted in years guess what I botched it. I have tried every method known to man and I am unable to remove the paint. I have searched every site and and watched every YOUTUBE video about removing paint from a model. Please i need help! The color I used was Tamiya PS5 Black. In a rattle can.

Has anybody ordered a part from AMT. I am missing a part and would like to get in touch with them to see if I can order a new windsheild. Not sure what happened to the windshield or if it was even there. If you have any info regarding AMT i would appreciate it. Thanks Lawrence

Problem solved! I am going to use Acrylic Craft paint. Absolutely no Oder what so ever. In the winter I can build and paint. In the summer I will clear coat on my deck. I will be able to do this without a problem as I have my spray booth which i tested in our kitchen "no smell, no mess."

Does anybody know what happened to Chis Chapmen on YouTube? Rusty nuts model shop or garage? I used to enjoy watching him and listening to his Coffee Time chat. Sure would like to hear him on the Tube again.

I am going to see what I can do with this. Big problem is outside temperature varies from -40 to 120. So that in itself presents a problem. Your suggestion makes sense but I have to figure out the logistics of doing this. 51 years married and I don't think the wife wants to leave yet. 😂

Yes I have a clothes dryer but it would take a lot to do what you suggest. This might sound ridiculous but my wife and I put a lot of planning into our laundry room as our condo is 1400 sq.ft. It would be very expensive and a lot of work as everything is built in. But thanks for the thought.

No it is not vented outside. And never will be as I said I live n a high rise condo. My plan is to use acrylic hobby paint which is odourless and does not bother the wife. what I am looking for is a gloss coat for acrylic paint. I contacted Deco Art and they have a polyurethane gloss varnish. However they are unsure if I will be able to use it in an airbrush. That gloss varnish doesn't bother my wife. so I am going to try and see if it will in fact spray with good results. I am very experienced with airbrush techniques as I used to rebuild aircraft instruments. Like I said my problem is finding a product that will give a gloss finish with little to no odour. No offence taken by any comments from anybody. A last resort would be to build in the winter and topcoat in the summer. Bummer isn't it.?

I just got back into modelling and spent some big bucks on a spray booth. I live in a condo and tried out my spray booth. It worked great except for the smell of the paint. I used Tamiya paint ,no matter what I do the smell drives my wife crazy. She has some very bad reactions to the Vapours from most paints. I thought I would use acrylics the craft paint is great, nice finish but what do I use for a clear gloss finish ? There is no Future or Pledge left in this area. I tried all the hobby shop clear coats and nothing works that doesn't stink the place up. I need help! time is running out I'm 71 years old.

I tried invisible thread and didn't have very good success! Will try again (practice makes perfect I guess)

I'm going to see if I can get that wire. You make beautiful models!
-
Has anybody ever used guitar stings for rigging wires? What do you use?

For me what is too expensive is a model that is quick to put together. I like building and find it Well spent. If its cheap and quick to put together, it's TOO EXPENSIVE Get what I'm saying?

My wife just told me not to take up ship building.🤣

This confirms it. The Mk Vb was the first Spitfire to see extensive overseas service. On 7 March 1942, 15 Mk Vs carrying 90-gallon fuel tanks under their fuselages took off from HMS Eagle off the coast of Algeria on a 600-mile flight to Malta.[158]

I built a model of the USS CONSTITUTION and after spending a lot of time on that project. I found their was a problem with their moulding process. You can check out my other posts. After struggling with that kit. I though it would be nice to build the CUTTY SARK. WRONG WRONG WRONG!! Checkout the attached picture. The masts are not right. I checked the plans and reviewed my work and it is impossible that I made a mistake. The two masts fit in two holes in the deck that are configured in such a way that they can only face the directions shown. Is it possible that Revell employees are smoking dope? Any Ideas?
