  1. This type of attitude is pretty common...  it runs along the lines of "To justify what I like, I have to hate/insult/denigrate what you like."  As an example, "I like Star Wars, but Star Trek sucks." and by implication, so do you.

This is pretty difficult to counteract as trying to address it head on only solidifies their opinions.  The thing to do (and I may not get this quite right) is to find out the what, where, why and how the other person likes Star Wars, without getting sidetracked into anything involving Star Trek.  If they try to go negative, steer it back towards their positive feelings/thoughts about Star Wars. Do not at anytime talk about your opinions of either Star Trek or Star Wars. Only focus on them and their thoughts and feelings.  If they persist in going negative, you'll probably get no where and will need to move on. But if you can get them to open up and get some actual, positive reasons for liking Star Wars, at some point you may be able to say, "Oh I see why you like it.  Those are many of the very same reasons I like Star Trek, but I can appreciate that Star Wars is something you really seem to enjoy."  Let them be happy about enjoying Star Wars on its own and realize that fact.  Perhaps then they'd understand your appreciation of Star Trek.

Now this is not an easy thing to do - and the fact that I even wrote this out would confuse the heck out of some of my friends, but so be it...

Anyway.... I may add on to this later, but I need some sleep.

  2. Don't bet on it.  Online advertising does not bring in a lot of revenue.

That has been in the back of my mind for a while. MCM's website gets more posts in an hour than IPMS gets in a day most days.  Perhaps the magazine is dying but there website certainly isn't.  My guess is the website is generating enough revenue to keep the magazine afloat.

I just went to YouTube and came across with this really nice video of the 1:20 Mclaren MP4/2B kit.  This master builder from Japan is extremely neat, thoughtful and precise.  Some of his techniques were out of this world!  Even though he didn't use carbon fibre decals, but it was amazing just to watch and admire his fine scale modelling skills.  This is in 6 parts and each part is about 27 minutes long.  Enjoy!

  4. Yeah, I might have duplicated topics... been one of those weeks...

Email both of us, just in case... I don't think I've ever seen a Fact Sheet, so I don't know what info is on it.  I've added more info to the Chapter web pages over the years and I doubt its on the sheet.

I have thought about providing access to the CC's to their Club pages...  at the moment, I have a function that emails all the CC's to get them to update the page info.  It's reasonably successful but I don't get replies from everyone. My concern is that instead of the DLC and I having to manage the pages, we'll end up managing the CC accounts and any Club pages where the CC does not want to do so..

It is doable but it's not something I'm going to tackle without significant fraction of the parties involved on board...

I thought we had a thread on this under News & Announcements in late June -  why not merge into one, ?

I have updates to our info, but it won't happen for a week or so.  I'll email who -- you, Eric, or the DLC ?

If the Fact Sheet doesn't update this, then we need to sort it out.

I am not sure why Chapter Contacts, who are generally responsible to communicate between national & the members cannot be given the tools/permissions to make the updates online and have that feed/inform the officers as necessary.  We're doing this backwards, wasting the Webmaster's time and the DLC's time being secretaries, and our time also because we have to not only submit changes but then watch to see if made (correctly).
