IPMS wishes to acknowledge the contributions made to the Support the Troops program by chapters and individuals.

Paul Metz and Bill Rollins of IPMS Fort Worth Scale Modelers drove the 10 hour round trip from Ft. Worth to San Antonio in March. They delivered several cartons of hobby-related materials to the IPMS Wounded Warriors at Brooke Army Medical Center. According to the club newsletter, the cartons contained 75 kits and other items donated by members of the IPMS Ft. Worth Chapter.

Tony Parlow of Helena, Montana (where God goes to vacation) for the beautiful F-102.

Tom Boan of Houston, Tx, supplied a shipment of kits, books, and magazines destined for the Wounded Warriors. Thanks Tom!

Ian Luna of New York, supplied a box of goodies, including two 700 scale ships, a 1/48th DML Dr.1, a Tamiya Marder, and a Tamiya Honda NSR 250. Judging from the number of motorcycles that I see when I make deliveries to B.A.M.C. the troops will be wanting to get their hands on the excellent motorcycle kit!

A collection of models in various scales was received from a dog grooming business in San Antonio. Thanks to the owner of "Miami Clips" for the kits!

An anonymous donor provided a broad collection of 1/48th scale aircraft and 35th armor in honor of her son, a former member of the US Navy. Her son was killed in a motorcycle accident and she felt that she would honor him by donating a portion of his collection to the soldiers being served at Brooke Army Med. Center.

Thanks to Hill Country Hobby of San Antonio. Gary, the owner, functions as a "drop off and collection" point for donors. His efforts have resulted in the expansion of the program in a significant manner.

We know that individuals are often reluctant to report donations that they make but we encourage you to do so. Your reports can be shared and that might serve as motivation for others to follow in your footsteps.

Your chapter may have an ongoing program to donate items to facilities that are in their local areas. Please share those activities with us. Again, it may lead others to follow your example.

If you have questions about how you and your chapter can participate in the Support the Troops program please contact me at ipmspresident@ipmsusa.org or through a Private Message on this forum.

Thanks!

From Tim Barb and shared here with his knowledge and permission:

On Monday, June 13, 2011, IPMS Northern Virginia Modelers delivered 140 kits to Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a gift to our Wounded Warriors. The kits were donations from chapter members, the IPMS DC chapter, attendees at our recent Model Classic show, as well as a legacy donation in memory of a former chapter member, Mike Lampros. The kits were divided between the Red Cross unit at the hospital and the Army's Warrior Transition Brigade.

Earlier this year (January 14, 2011), the club shipped three boxes containing 67 kits to three of the POCs listed on the IPMS web site. The kits were donated by our members at the January chapter meeting and consisted of aircraft, armor, auto, and Star Trek kits.
