Searching for an aircraft identification

This is for the real old-timers. In an episode of the old “ Sky King” adventure series, the one entitled “Sky Robbers,” Penny flies a small, single engine, low wing monoplane with fixed landing gear. She wins the Lady’s Pylon Race in it. Can anyone identify what that aircraft is? Thanks. (I hope this is the correct place for this thread!) Nick Filippone
