  1. Bottle pictures of the Tru-Color Paint SEA colors to be released Oct. 1, 2017 are attached for your perusal. There are 4 colors in the first release and the TCP-1213 picture will be added before the end of this week. The bottles shown are all 1 oz. On Nov. 1, 2017 we will release the first true F-22 simulated radar dispersion/absorption paint for the modeler ( 2 colors) along with Fed. Std. 34092 Gunship Green. As with all of our products, these too will be stocked in 1 and 2 oz. size bottles. Every Tru-Color Paint product is manufactured in Phoenix, AZ ! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779
  2. Hi there from hot, dry northern Phoenix, AZ. Tru-Color Paint here. We are pleased to announce to the military modeler that our new line of military colors for armor, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy ships will be start shipping on Oct. 1, 2017. In the initial release there will be 14 colors: 6 for U.S. Navy ships, 4 each for U.S. Armor and U.S. Air Force. Then each month thereafter our intent is to release 4-10 new colors until the end of 2019. By the time we are through with this we will have added over 200 military colors to our vast product line. The entire Tru-Color Paint product line is manufactured in Phoenix, AZ. It is a solvent based paint, similar to an enamel, but it does not cure. All of the colors are stocked in 1 oz. ( $ 5.69 list) and 2 oz. ( $10.25) bottles. We pride ourselves on producing the most accurate modeling paints on the market (over 400 railroad colors and 100 automobile colors attest to this). We are grateful to many of the IPMS members who have helped us develop many of the colors not governed by Federal Standard color chips. All colors are matched to color chips from various sources (Snyder & Short for U.S. Navy 1939-46) or matched by experts in their field: Kevin Wenker for Bi-planes, Ethan Dunsford for U.S. Armor and others. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this forum. Martin Cohen PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O. Box 74524 Phoenix, AZ 85087-4524 714-488-9779
  3. We had been asked if Tru-Color Paint works on Shapeways 3-D printed parts used in model building. We can now definitely say YES. Tru-Color Paint can be hand OR air brushed onto Shapeways parts made with either FUD or FXD resin. Just follow the recommendations for using Shapeways parts by exposing them to sunlight or a UV lamp for an hour or so to fully cure any residual resin. As with any plastic part, make sure the surface is clean and you can apply ANY color on the part(s). A custom painter (North Valley Trains) of locomotives that uses Tru-Color Paint exclusively for his projects showed us several shells painted in black, white and yellow. One shell was made with FUD (steam engine), the other (Norfolk Southern diesel) with FXD. We note that the only difference in the parts is the smoothness of the finished part, with the FXD being much smoother (but also much more costly) than the FUD part. Trust this info helps. Let us know if there are any other questions regarding Tru-Color Paint and we will try to get them answered ! Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint
  4. Tru-Color Paint is pleased to announce that we are shipping the first 6 U.S. Navy colors ahead of schedule ! These paints are shipping on August 29, 2017 to hobby shops and distributors. All are available in 1 and 2 oz. size bottles, but most hobby shops carry only the 1 oz. size in stock. The 6 colors are: TCP-1000 Norfolk 65-A Anti-fouling Red; TCP-1001 Dull Black #82; TCP-1002 Navy Gray #5; TCP-1004 White 5-U; TCP-1009 Mahogany and TCP-1042 Modern Haze Gray - Federal Standard 36270. The suggested retail is $ 5.69 for the 1 oz. bottle and $ 10.25 for the 2 oz. bottle. Note that these are all air brush ready. However, they can also be applied with a paint brush. Michael Megee of the Craig Hewitt chapter hand brushed a 1/700 Sims class destroyer using our paint and he liked the results very much. Each month from Oct. 1, 2017 to around Oct. 2019 we will release 2-4 new U.S. Navy ship and/or aircraft colors. Nearly every camouflage color - grays, blues, greens and browns - will be produced to cover the era from 1939-1946 (with the help from Randy Short of Snyder & Short) for color matching). We will also have all modern ship colors PLUS colors for the U.S. Navy Aircraft flown in WWII and all modern day jets ! If your favorite hobby shop does not them on order from us or any of our distributors inform them they are shipping now ! You may also order direct from us. Martin Cohen, PhD Tru-Color Paint P.O.
