    Strutz

I keep seeing references in build articles about Strutz. Apparently these a brass rods with an aerodynamic shape that can be used to replace kit struts. Does anyone know if this product is available in 1/72 scale and where I can order it? Any info would be appreciated.
  2. Clare! I can't thank you enough! As you now know, this is a very difficult part of the airframe to observe. Your help will allow me to be a little more accurate than I might have been. I will send you pictures of the finished product. BTW, I like your "1/72 Gentlemen's Scale" comment. Like me, you undoubtedly remember whem 1/72 was the standard and 1/48th had little buttons to open the bomb bay and eject the bomb. Thanks again. This is what IPMS is all about.
  3. Finally Hobby Boss has given us an accurate MiG-15 in 1/72 scale. I waited for 5 years for Eduard to produce it's promised 1/72 scale version to no avail. The H-B kit has two clear plastic pieces to fit into depressions on the bottom of the fuselage, just forward of the dive brakes. I have searched all my reference including watching the History Channel's excellent production that can be viewed at http://www.guba.com/watch/3000024266 but I can't find any reference to a landing light or camera opening to justify these transparencies. I'm beginning to think that they are just solid panels. Does anyone have any idea what these might be and if they should be clear transparencies? Any help will be appreciated.
  4. Finally got this kit. Since the bottom half was not secured in the tray, but seperately bagged, I'm wondering if there was a problem that had to be fixed. The fact that Pavla came out with a fix for the lower nose would seem to confirm this. It appears to be an excellent model, dead on when measured against the "In Action" book and the Aerofax book. At any rate, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with colors for the cockpit, landing gear and wheelwells. I think I saw a reference to a "red-green", but no FS numbers. Any help will be appreciated. 5. Thanks for the info. I was just reading your Stoof article. Great stuff! And here I thought you were just another pretty face! In the same issue was an article about CC's PB4Y-2 in 144th. I've been looking at my Matchbox Privateers for years thinking about getting the project going. As you know I'm a single engine guy for space reasons. The 144th PB4Y-2 looked like a great project. I not only have two of the Matchbox kits, two of the Squadron canopy sets, two of the High Planes engine/cowl sets and two of the White Dog "Blunderbuss" decal sheets I also have the Cobra Company's resin correction set. It is a beauty! They rival anything out of the Czech Republic. Now all I need to do is finish the Vought "Wind Indicator" I've been working on since last summer and start the -2. Or, maybe the Hasegawa PBJ.... or the RVHP Buccaneer....or the Octopus "Duck"....or the half finished '72 Corvette....or the 1/700 USS Caine........so many models and so little time left........
  6. Can anyone update me on the status of Cobra Company? Their website says not taking orders until further notice. I hope this means they'll be back.
  7. Hope you've got the Lockheed Salmon to follow up with. I sold the last one in my stash three years ago for $200+
