  1. Roughly piecing it together, I'd say it's about 17-18 inches long and 7-8 inches wide.
  2. Moebius has sent me the Galactica test shot to build for this group build. As soon as get this viper finished up, on to the Galactica.
  3. Moebius Mk II Viper Build Topic...All updated will be added to this topic Pilot Viper Progress....I built a duplicate stand like my Mk. I Viper for this Mk. II. I just like my stands better.
  4. I'm in with the new 1/32 Mk. II Viper and the 30th Annv. Reissue Cylon Raider.
  5. Rules, Guidelines and Information. The group-build period starts on September 1, 2010 and will finish on March 1, 2011. This GB will be a tribute to Battlestar Galactica, the original series as well as the re-imagined series. The GB guidelines will be simple. 1. Anything that represents a legitamate Battlestar Galactica spacecraft is eligible for the group build. The build is open to any scale. 2. The model can be in any state of completion. Resurrect an old project if you have one. 3. Scratch-building is allowed, as is any after market components. Also, cannibalizing and kit bashing is allowed to get a correct result. 4. This build is not limited to aircraft. Concept vehicles are allowed. Also, drawing board concepts are allowed. 5. Prizes?? But most of all: Build a kit and have fun!
  6. Sure! Like I said, I have a 30th Anniversary Cylon Raider to finish up and a Mk II Viper from the Reimagined BSG series on the way.
  7. I need to finish the Cylon now. I found some great pics of the studio model and I will paint it to match. I am going to do it in flight in the same fashion as the Viper.
  8. I decided to lightly weather it and abandon the old worn out look. This was done with artists pastel black, drak gray and light gray powered and then mixed. The overall color ov the model is Model Master Camoflage Gray. The red is Model Master RLM Rot. The section just aft of the intakes and the recess on the side of the fuselage is Model Master Jet Exhaust and the laser cannons and exhaust is Model Master Metalizer Gunmetal. The glare shield and canopy framing and the panels on the sides of the fuselage is Model Master Gunship Gray. The Model has a 3/8" hole on it already, so I used a piece of clear acrylic rod, bent with a heat gun to give the ship attitude in flight. The base is a 99 cent base from Hobby Lobby cleaned up and the edges stain with whatever I happened to grab out of the cabinet in the garage and the gloss black is a generic gloss black out of the rattle can. I used the kit base decal and applied to my wooden base. To my surprise the balcks match and it just seemed to disappear when I put it down. Enjoy! Cockpit
  9. ewahl, If you look at my X-Wing Fighter that I built a few years back, I used various pastels and chalks to enhance or lighten details. I was thinking of a similar effect with the Viper. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8...-Eggers/08.shtm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8...-Eggers/14.shtm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8...-Eggers/15.shtm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8...-Eggers/16.shtm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8...-Eggers/17.shtm
  10. Man, I LOVE digital photography. I just painted the section aft of the intakes, photographed it and now you guys are seeing it!!! I also love building sci-fi subject. You can pretty much do whatever you want with them, because there really is no right or wrong, unless you are going to follow the canon of the story line, i.e. Star Wars or Star Trek , BSG.... Also, when I do a sci-fi subject, I rarely use the decals. I paint them on. For this subject they are pretty easy, I didn't follow the decal guide. I did my own thing and did markings that I thought looked good. I am still wondering if I should weather it and make it look good and use or keep it a prestine factory fresh Viper.
  11. Here are a couple of in-progress pics of my 30th Anniverary Colonial Viper. It still needs finishing up, some more paint and heavy weathering. Enjoy
  12. My LHS has it. You can order online throught there online store - http://www.hobby-time.com
  13. Thanks Gil. The plan was to take this one to Phoenix, but other things came up, so I slowed down on it. Maybe this will go to Omaha? It is definately going to SuperCon in Arlington, Tx next month. The key to a helicopter build is the glass. The Panda/Dragon kit's glass fits quite well, but is a little thick. It's thickness really doesn't detract from the model. The Greenhouse windows are tinted using Tamiya Clear Green acryl paint. I didn't thin it, just sprayed light coats to build up an even green on the plastic. Of course, it is painted on what would be the inside of the glass. Let it dry about an hour and you are able to work with it. To place the glass, I use this stuff called "Formula '56 - The World's Best Canopy Glue". Not having heard of it, I figured I'd give it a try, now I swear by it. It works, IMHO, better and it gives a stonger bond than Krystal Klear. The model itself is subtly weathered using gray artist pastels. It's weathered more on the top and then went from light to dark (gradient) down the sides. You know, cause the sun bakes it on top more than the sides causing an uneven fade pattern. Thanks for the compliment!!
  14. Minus some little stuff, this one is pretty much done. It's not perfect by any means, but it didn't turn out half bad. Enjoy!
  15. I ordered these on a whim hoping they would work with the Italeri kit.(I'm finishing up an old project) To my surprise they did! Here are some pics and comparisons for those who haven't seen the set. Overview shot Brassin Wheel (left) - Italeri Wheel (right) (Where did Italeri think their Raptor was going to land with those tires?) Italeri Main Wheel and strut (kit) Brassin Main Wheel and kit strut - PERFECT FIT! No mods required! Brassin Nose Wheel and Italeri Nose Wheel - note the size difference! Brassin Nose Wheel and kit nose strut - a slight enlagement on the nose wheel will be required.
  16. Alright guys, I need a little help. Look at this F-22A at the National Museum of the Air Force: http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/shared/me...F-1234P-003.jpg I like this look of this Raptor and want to finish my F-22 this way, but I can't figure out the colors. I know photos are deceptive, but when I test the MOD Eagle colors on a test part it doesn't look like this photo. The best I can tell, the nose, and leading edges are Light Ghost Gray. It seems the best match to the overall color is Aggressor Gray. When I shoot the MOD Eagle scheme on a test part, the Aggressor Gray and Dark Gull Gray blend so close that you can't tell the difference. I am asking the forum users, what do you guys this the blue-gray color on this jet. It looks almost Model Master Medium Gray 35237 or could it be Intermediate Blue 35164? Thanks in advance for you help.
  17. That is pretty inspiring! I Like It!
  18. A had gotten pics of the real air through a friend of mine out at Edwards AFB. It was just one of those unique subjects that looked neat and was a conversion that was pretty easy to do. The real aircraft later crashed. The interesting thing to note is that this aircraft never carried any markings. No tail numbers, US ARMY, etc... The guy who was on the test program said that that was pretty weird for it to have no markings.
  19. Thanks!! It's the Dragon 1/35 scale MD500 Defender kit.
  20. Enjoy! Modified cabin doors, added instrument wiring, added photo-etch radio control heads to the center console, scratch built all antennas a mounts, added inlet scoop on aft right side, added outlet underside aft, added APR-39 receivers on forward fuselage.
  21. A tad more progress. I decided to do a new aft bulkhead as the kit one was completely incorrect. Sheet styrene is a great thing. Compare this with the other bulkhead pic further up the thread. There is also no exhaust detail. Brass tubing to the rescue. and test fit in place.
