Developed from the standard Fiesta road car, the Ford Fiesta RS WRC is a bespoke rally car built by M-Sport for the works Ford Rally Team for use in the World Rally Championship. The new WRC regulations for 2011 required a turbocharged 1600cc - this engine is both reliable and powerful, keeping the flame-spitting character of the WRC cars intact.

The Handley Page 0/400 was one of the first heavy bombers used by Great Britain during the First World War. Succeeding its predecessor, the Handley Page 0/100, the 0/400 proved to be an effective and ultimately famous aircraft. Entering service in April 1918, the 0/400 was able to carry a single 1,650lb bomb and often operated in formations of up to 40 aircraft, first during the day, then later increasingly at night.

Operation HERRICK is the codename under which all British operations in the war in Afghanistan have been conducted since 2002. It consists of the British contribution to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and support to the US-led Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Airfix now offer you the chance to build some amazing 1:48 scale models from this operation.

Designed and developed by Supacat at their facility in Devon, England, the Jackal or MWMIK (Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit) is a wheeled, armoured vehicle used by the British Army. Its primary role is one of deep battlefield reconnaissance as well as rapid assault and convoy protection. In all of these roles, good mobility and visibility are paramount and it is in these areas that the Jackal excels.

Its primary roles is that of an artillery tractor, with secondary roles of battlefield reconnaissance and assault. It can be fitted with either a .50 Cal heavy machine gun or a 40mm grenade launcher as its primary armament, with a general purpose machine gun as a supporting weapon.

Both the Jackal and the Coyote have seen extensive use in Afghanistan, where they have proved to be very useful machines becoming much loved by their crews.

Sneak Peek 2013 Exclusive!

http://airfix.hornbynews.com/ukassets/images/340/Newsletter/2012-11-23/A05119-Banner.jpg

The PR.XIX was the final Photo Reconnaissance version of the Spitfire to see active RAF service. Produced by mating features of the Mk.XI Spitfire to the powerful Griffon engine of the XIV, the PR.XIX was one of the fastest and some say best looking of all Spitfire variants. Due to its role as a reconnaissance machine it featured no armament, instead relying upon its high top speed to evade any potential enemies. After the war the PR.XIX served in the Far East, operating over Hainan Island and performing the RAF's last ever operational sortie by a Spitfire over Malaya on the 10th June 1957.

We need your help!

We are holding an exhibition of original Airfix art at RAF Hendon from Summer 2013. We have a number of brilliant paintings to show, but are in need of more.

The exhibition will feature exclusive paintings which were commissioned to decorate Airfix kit packaging. Aircraft will be the main focus but we would like to cover other Airfix products such as military vehicles, ships, historical figures series, railway subjects and motor cars.

If anyone has, or knows of someone who would be willing to lend the museum an original painting relating to any of these Airfix products, please get in touch. We are particularly interested in hearing about any Roy Cross Airfix artwork.

Email webteam@hornby.com with your details!
