PawelP
Hi, Last week I started building F4F from Hobby Boss kit on my bench. In the box everything was OK. After ... I had one "surprise". The model had not good fitted lower part "complex" wings with the bottom part of fuselage in the tail section. It needed to scrap that part to better fitting with fuselage and reconstruction panel lines. The rest was OK. Lower windows part needed for a better fitting with fuselage cutting off positioning pins. A few photos from start.
ghodges
Off to a good start Pawel! I built their F4F-3, and enjoyed it, despite the engineering oddities. I look forward to seeing more of your build! GIL
PawelP
Ok ... next steps :-) Last few days I finished fuselage's montage, and I started painting. The first was cockpit.
PawelP
The next step were engine and propeller painting and last preparation for masking.
ghodges
The dry brushing you did in the cockpit looks great! Your construction sequence (related to painting) also allows for a fast build. Looking good! GIL
PawelP
The dry brushing you did in the cockpit ... Thanks Gil :-) In the cockpit and for the engine I used wash technique (artistic enamel black mixed with dark brown or umber). On the edges (small area near sight, the sight, and pilot seat) was applied pencil B sign (to buy in the shop for painters). Model is very fast in building - very good for training in painting and for collection unit planes on airfield or war diorama.
