Dick Montgomery
This little kit, although a bit crude by the highest standards, produces a very nice model as an end product. This is a RWD-8 in 72nd scale. The control cables are stretched sprue heat tightened after the glue dried. Total construction time is about 8 hours. aAzZ09
Very nice Dick. I like some of the esoteric aircraft from Europe. Happy Modeling, Mark Fiedler (aAzZ09) IPMS #14333
PawelP
Polish plane ... and an old polish kit :-) First time I see with Czech markings. "What if" or real plane ?
DaveDeLang
Looks good. However, the wing insignia are swapped. The white segment should be outboard. The tail is correct. Is that alclad on the cowl and prop? Also, what kit? Heller? Edited April 3, 2012 by DaveDeLang
Dick Montgomery
Looks good. However, the wing insignia are swapped. The white segment should be outboard. The tail is correct. Is that alclad on the cowl and prop? Also, what kit? Heller? Well now.... It never dawned on me that the wing insignia could be applied in more than one way....that being with the blue wedge forward...but sure enough they are, indeed backwards. That is a simple fix and even thought this little guy was a "just for fun" (and not for competition kit) I'll get that error squared away. I've never marked a plane as Czech before.... Its not Heller....and in truth I do not know who manufactured this kit. I got it bagged with no box and no instructions and I do not remember seeing any kind of Manu ID stamped in the interior of any part. As for the "real" or "what if" question....my understanding is that this trainer was flown by Czechs, Poles, Hungarians, Romanians, and who knows who else...... so my assumption is that it is "real". Thanks for the note about the decals being backwards.....d'oh!
PawelP
The kit was produced by Polish manufacturer ZTS Plastyk (.. 20 years ago ...), Now the forms are in use by Mastercraft. It costs about 2,5 - 3 USD. http://www.martola.c..._civil_war_1936 A few years ago were avalilable photoetched parts for that kit. This one must have been one of the ZTS kits....the bag showed signs of age and there weren't any PE parts. The project was fun and the aircraft has a pleasing appearance...now I just need to find another set of Czech national insignia and that decaling error! Dick Montgomery
Pawel, Thanks very much for the offer...didn't see it until just now. I had an unused set in my files, but thanks anyway! I've just finished applying the decals with the white segment facing "out"...hope its right this time. And this discussion led to another project...starting an ICM Spifire in 48th with Czech markings....which I'll be sure to apply correctly! Here's a pic with the markings correctly oriented.
