ModelFiesta XXXI in San Antonio

Recommended Posts

The weather is cooperative, the vendor tables ( 150+) are sold out, and the contest staff is getting ready for the big show. IPMS Alamo Squadron will host its 31st annual event at the Live Oak Civic Center in Live Oak, Texas on Saturday, Feb 18, 2012. Live Oak is a suburb attached to San Antonio on the north side of the city. The convention center is about 1 mile to the east of IH-35, along Loop 1604, conveniently located to motels, restaurants and shopping centers.

Modelfiesta is one of the largest events in Region 6, drawing participants from the surrounding states and is usually "International" as well, with participants travelling from Mexico.

ModelFiesta is well known for having honored guests in attendence including distinguished aviators from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Presentations and seminars are scheduled throughout the day and the vendor area is H.U.G.E.

Slipping into a Texas accent....If ya'll have a hankerin' to visit the Alamo, the drive from the Civic Center to the downtown area near the Alamo is about 15 minutes. The WWII Muesum of the Pacific (Nimitz) is located in Fredricksberg, Tx, about 90 minutes away. Of the three major hobby shops in the San Antonio area, Hill Country Hobby will have a large presence in the vendor area. Dibbles and Hobbytown USA are located about 20 to 25 minutes from the Civic Center and are relatively close to one another (in Texas terms), with a round trip from the event site to the hobby shops and back again in about 90 minutes.

Check the IPMS Upcoming Events page for contact info, times, etc.
