Lightening Paint

I know that other people have had this problem before and I seem to recall reading something on it somewhere written by someone, but can't find it. When I lightly mist a cost of very lightened base color over the whole model to tie everything together, I end up not with a lightening effect, but with a lot of small dried spots of paint. I thin the paint almost to the point of a wash and have the pressure set low, about 10psi, but the same thing happens. What am I doing wrong. HELP PLEASE

I suspect that the lower psi is the issue. Low psi is best for up close detailed work (the tip 1" from the work surface) paint should be very thin, and volume would be rather low.

The technique you describe is for a wider area that requires more paint flow. Guessing your paint distance is 4 to 6 inches form the work surface. The lower psi simply spits the higher volume.

Higher psi equals increased atomization. I think that is what you are after.
