sumterIII
Out of all the equipment in Iraq and Afgan. I have yet to see any MRAP models out on the market. Is there any word on if these will be produced? http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu218/sumterIII/DSCF0291.jpg

There are already several models of MRAP vehicles out there. Maybe not in the particular variant you asked about though.

VonL
Would kill for a JERRV Cougar 6x6 in 1/72 scale. I can supply some detail pix of JERRVs in the field, if that would help the cause... How/where, exactly, might one get one's hands on that Cromwell kit? RGronovius
Would kill for a JERRV Cougar 6x6 in 1/72 scale. I can supply some detail pix of JERRVs in the field, if that would help the cause... How/where, exactly, might one get one's hands on that Cromwell kit? Dang, that's a loaded question in the armor world! Bottom line up front: great model kits, not great service. On forums like Missing Lynx or Track Link, any mention of the company normally creates a firestorm of folks who have ordered from Cromwell Models, had their cards charged, and have not received their product a year or so later. Those cries are follwed by the howls and scoffs of forum regulars who can't believe people still order from Cromwell Models. Peppered amongst the replies are a couple of guys who finally got their kits 10-18 months later and remark about what a work of art they are, how beautiful they are, etc. and that they ordered knowing the wait time and really wanted the subject and were OK to wait. The thread usually gets locked with half the responses deleted. Here is some contact information from 2010. I do not know if any are still active. I have no experiences in dealing with the man who runs Cromwell Models, just passing on some information I've gleened in my model website surfing years. cromwellmodels@yahoo.co.uk infoatcromwell@yahoo.co.uk ordersatcromwell@yahoo.co.uk
Mark Aldrich
Don't forget our own walk around gallery! Not a lot but a few! Mine only seems to have four wheels though. It must be a baby JERRV! http://ipmsusa3.org/...ILWHEELS/JERRV/ Edited June 20, 2011 by Mark Aldrich
VonL
It must be a baby JERRV! Yup, it sure looks like one! IIRC, there were at least a couple significant variations on this critter, even before the later MRAP fleet was deployed. Quite the 'Joint' program: Saw all of these vehicles with Army, Navy, USAF and USMC stencils and/or crews. Can't remember ISAF, or UK JERRV's, but they may have been there, too. Mark Aldrich
Bob, What I like is the markings above the door in this photo....I assume this is a training vehicle only! http://ipmsusa3.org/gallery/v/walkarounds/MILWHEELS/JERRV/100_1702.JPG.html
VonL
...I assume this is a training vehicle only! I sure hope so! Or maybe it's somebody's sense of humor. NOTE: In response to a similar post on BritModeler, I got a steer toward this site: http://www.sandsmodels.com/ which has both 28mm (1/60) and 20mm (1/76) wargaming miniatures. Could not believe my good luck: THEY DO HAVE BOTH A 4x4 AND A 6x6 JERRV in the 'Modern 20mm' range - HUZZAH - !!! Will mo'debly order up one of these, to see whether I can screw it up by adding some detail. May try to re-do the tires, but the rest of it looks great. Warwheels
Von, Model Miniature of France is coming out with a bunch of resin 1/72 Cougars. Here is a link to their homepage; go to the "coming soon" page for more info: http://translate.goo...%2F&sl=fr&tl=en Also, speaking of MRAP kits, I've been hearing MANY whispers of PLASTIC 1/35 MRAP models (multiple vehicles and variations) in the planning stages by a few model companies. Not sure how true they are, but the sources I have are reliable... And No, I can't give any further info... Sorry. Would kill for a JERRV Cougar 6x6 in 1/72 scale. VonL
Von, Model Miniature of France is coming out with a bunch of resin 1/72 Cougars. Great news there! I really like the looks of their EOD robot set, too. You said "series": Have you seen any indicators that they also plan to do the Cougar 6x6 variant? I'm hoping they will do a couple of these slightly retro designs in 1/72, as well as the more current "MRAP" gear. Now...to go find a Mercedes dump truck and turn it into a "jingle truck." Warwheels
[Have you seen any indicators that they also plan to do the Cougar 6x6 variant? I haven't heard anything from them about a 6x6 variant. However, they tend to try maximize their molds to do different versions of the vehicles they release so I wouldn't be surprised if they did a 6x6. VonL
Remove the spare wheel for operational trucks. Disagree - it really depends on the variant, timeframe and who's using it. This one has US Navy markings, operated by a USAF EOD team (with an Army gunner) at an Army base in the 'Stan, c.2007: Edited July 1, 2011 by VonL

I have over 1000 pictures of them that I took from before and after the draw down. Agree with you on Afganistan, but again dates are important. Warwheels
Well, good news for you that are looking forward to a 1/72 Resin 6x6 Cougar. I talked to the folks at Model Miniature of France and they do intend to release a version (or more?) of the 6x6 Cougar. No release date has been set, but they said it would "be awhile" as they have other things in the pipeline...
