Vintage Kit: Matchbox 1/72 Spitfire Mk IX 1972

The Matchbox kit was first issued in 1972 and later editions had an extra part to make a bubble top version.  One can clearly see the trademark engraved lines on the fuselage.  On this one I used a spare resin cockpit (make unknown) and also a Squadron vacform canopy.  Paint is by Tamiya. It certainly looks like a Spitfire when done.

Wow, except for the deep panel lines, you'd never know this was such an old kit! You did magnificent!

Mark and Gil, yea  both of you are correct.  I left the panel lines simply because that is Matchbox's trademark on most of their 1/72 kits.  It was my way of simply giving a tip of the hat.

That is one very sharp and clean looking build!
