painting faces using enamels

I have used oils to paint faces with some success. I am wondering what enamel paint combinations to use to paint faces/flesh, in particular Testors Model Master paints.

thanks!

Joe,

In the figure painting community, Bill Horan is considered the master of enamels. Horan uses Humbrol and has developed his own glazing technique. Very few have been able to replicate it...

Horan is also a remarkable figure sculptor working almost exclusively in 54mm size.

This thread on Planet Figure may be of some help to you:

One artist who is a master of oil and acrylic is Danilo Cartacci. Here is the link to the english version of his website:

Danilo's work is very inspirational. His book is a wealth of information and includes many step-by-step processes.

There are many figure shows across the country that normally include painting seminars. Depending on your location, there may be one close to you.

Good luck...

Thanks-- I just saw this posting, and I just happened to look at Bill Horan's book last night! I'm trying his color combinations now (base is painted), so I'm glad I found an expert who uses an enamel. I'll check into the Planet Figure soon as well. Also-- Sounds like your in the "neighborhood." Check out dvsm.org website.
