I know this has nothing to do with modeling but im just puttin it out the i recently read some books i found very interesting and wouild be great for anybody whos thinking about building a b-29 super fortress called end of war written by major general sweeny its about the last atomic bomb dropped on japan in ww11. And there is another one called iron coffins about a ww11 german submarine commander who survived the atlantic war.

I remember reading "Iron Coffins" in the 6th grade! I still consider it one of the best books on the German submarine experience in WWII. If you liked Sweeny's book, you'd also like Enola Gay by Tibbets. It's basically his biography and covers all of his military career, with lots of interesting facts and details of his flying before and after WWII (he used to shoot skeet with Patton at Ft. Benning in '39-'40!) It also covers the 509th BG and atom bomb program in detail, as well as the Bikini tests in '46.

I recommend "Pursue and Destroy" by Kit Carson as one of the absolute best books on WWII fighter pilots, and in particular on escort fighters in the ETO. "Escort to Berlin" does the same thing for the 4th FG, covering them from the Eagle Squadron days with the Brits through the end of the war. It also has several appendices with lots of valuable info on the planes and pilots of the 4th.

Books on history are modeling related, as they often serve as the inspiration for what we build!

I like this Thread; we should "Sticky" it.

One book I would love to get ahold of again is called "I Took the Sky Road", written by a PB4Y/B-24 patrol bomber pilot about his experiences in the Pacific. I don't remember the author's name, but it was some incredible reading there. I'm gonna make a list of the rest of these and see if I can get them.
