Good BBQ would sell more banquet tickets.

Have you considered having food trucks roll up during the day? Several local shows have started doing this to rave reviews. There's not much nearby, and "up the road" and/or "across" the interstate involves a 2 mile drive which will come as a surprise to those not accustomed to one-way frontage roads, and the u-turn lanes before the lights will frustrate some.

    This is a great idea.

  2. Traveling is as much a Gastronomical adventure as anything else, therefore, I would ask of Mr. Pillhofer and company to put forth their best local restaurant recommendations. I understand how subjective food is, so no static.

Where would you suggest for the:

    Best Authentic Mexican

    Best Italian

    Best Steakhouse

    Best Seafood

Best Vegan (My wife is Pescatarian..maybe you are, too).

I'm asking locals for local recommendations. Believe me, I've looked at Trip Advisor. I believe about 30% of what they say.

Here's everything y'all need to know pertaining to Madison's 2024 Nats at this point. We are still a long way off, although there's much work to be done between now and then.

This is, of course, Mad City's first National Convention. The clubs in the region are excited, and the team is enthusiastic and full of great ideas to make the attendee experience memorable and enjoyable. We'll do our utmost to implement whatever additional amenities we can without losing our mission focus of accomplishing all of the boiler-plated tasks required of every national convention.

That being said, we're already getting negative feedback from people..."It's too far", "I hate the Wisconsin Badgers", "I got a DWI up there in 1987, so I'm never going back to Wisconsin", (yes, these are real) etc... Please keep in mind, we have a job to do, and its not an easy one. If you choose not to attend because you hate the Wisconsin Badgers (and I'm a NY transplant, so enough of that) or it's too far for you to travel, that's on YOU, not on US. We're sorry that we're way up here in the frozen tundra of the Midwest. Regardless, no matter where the National Convention happens, it inevitably becomes a very long drive for someone. If you choose to make that LONG journey from where ever you are, we will do our best to make it a wonderful experience for you and your families. Now...back to work...

I was banned from Brazil for 22 years, but I’d go back.

I have seen zero feedback about BKB. There was a bit of discussion between it's announcement and Nats but I have seen or heard nothing since. The silence is deafening.

2nd VP John Bonanni has sent out surveys to all attendees, requesting feedback on how to improve the process. Last I've heard, over 300 respondents so far. He stated all results will be made available to the membership. I'm pretty sure BKB will be addressed.

If you perform a craniorectal inversion, your hearing will probably improve.

When we bid for the 2003 show the VP had a VERY helpful publication to aid any group considering a bid.  I'm sure he'll send it to you.  Just ask.  It answers all questions you may have about bidding.

Thanks Rusty, I'm not a member of any club. No interest in bidding on anything outside of EBay. Just found the report fascinating. I don't get out much.

Thank you Jim. The issue stemmed from when we first got the contract with them for a Nationals, but it was given to someone else. A few years later, we got it and the hotel was compelled to honor the quote, even though it was far lower than they would have given us. Therefore, in an attempt to recoup some costs; they were putting a charge on anything and everything that they could. Thus the fiasco with the computers.

I had such a great time at that show!
