  1. Found at a local hobby shop's going-out-of-business sale: A KP Il-10 kit sent to Jim by a Czech modeler during the Cold War. (Photo by Scott Copeland)
  2. It's a sticky problem. https://www.popularmechanics.com/home/a28172758/how-to-remove-super-glue/
  3. After acquiring the Pactra and Floquil brands then discontinuing them, and more lately discontinuing most of the Master Model enamel line, Testors has apparently decided to get out of the acrylic paint business as well. The following are the Testors acrylic paints listed for discontinuation, according to an email I received from one retailer: TES-4399 1/2oz. Bottle Model Master Acrylic II Fantasy Figure Sullen Grey TES-4604 1/2oz. Bottle Model Master Acrylic Skin Tone Shadow Tint TES-4605 1/2oz. Bottle Model Master Acrylic Burnt Umber TES-4608 1/2oz. Bottle Model Master
  4. Those of us who used Floquil paint wrung our hands and gnashed our teeth when (1) Testor's acquired Floquil, and (2) Testor's discontinued Floquil. Now there's a company in the UK (Archive-X) reproducing some of the Floquil colors. There are only two drawbacks: (1) it is frightfully expensive (£12.00 for a 30 ml bottle!) and (2) being enamel, it cannot be mailed to the US. However, for those interested, here is the relevant Interweb page listing available colors: https://archive-x.com/collections/all-paints Most available colors seem to be either railroad or ship colors, but elsewher
  5. You're not alone; I'm having the same problem. I thought at first it was my ISP (TimeWarner/Spectrum), but this is the only site I frequent that seems to have got stuck in a vat of molasses.
  6. Scalemates also lists these additional Snark kits: Ventavia (1/100) Sanwa (1/160) Monogram (1/128); included in the United States Missile Arsenal (PD40-298), Model Missile Packet (MP-2), and Missile Mobile (PD-43) kits, but these did not have a trailer.
  7. A friend of mine has suggested it is the Sharkit 1/72 kit, but the Sharkit Snark does not include a trailer. Sharkits are resin; is this heavy enough to be resin? See here for Sharkit info: https://sharkit.com/sharkit/Snark/snark.htm
  8. Hey, Dick, I posted a coupla pix on Hyperscale. Maybe some of those guys have a clue, 'cause I sure don't.
  9. invariably, the list of "New Forum Posts" duplicates those listed under "Reviews." Do we really need to be told TWICE about new reviews? Is there a way to fix this so that reviews are listed only once and other new posts are listed in the New Forums Post category?
  10. I have a tapatalk account and have been a regular on Hyperscale. I posted as late as yesterday with no issues. Today, however, it's a different story. Not even my email address is recognized.
  11. As of this morning the Hyperscale forum does not recognize my ID or password. Anybody know what's going on over there?
  12. Other than an announcement by Rusty on the Steel Navy forum and a discussion on this forum of the pros and cons of judging systems, I can find no link to the actual survey itself. Shouldn't this be posted prominently on the web site? I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but why has it not received more publicity?
  13. From Faller, N-scale (1/160);
  14. Build a model of a machine used to make model kits: See here (ebay) if interested. I have no connection with the seller: https://tinyurl.com/y6le6atr
  15. Thanks to a respondent on the Starship Modeler forum, I was able to locate some of the info. The site I was looking for has been archived by the Wayback Machine, but some pages are missing. The studio blueprint can be found here: https://web.archive.org/web/20141014212908/http://projects.airwolf.tv/resources/bpairwolf.html (click on the image to download a larger version in ZIP format) The "flight manual" can be found here: https://web.archive.org/web/20140803111230if_/http://projects.airwolf.tv/resources/manual.html (The "Previous/Next" links on those pages work, or you ca
  16. I have a bookmark to a website (www.airwolf.tv) that had an Airwolf "technical/flight manual," but that site seems to have gone to 404Land. Might any IPMSers have saved said document? I'm also looking for a copy of the studio plans of the aircraft, but all I've found online have been low-resolution partial copies. Anybody got the real deal?
  17. We do have online renewal. Click on "Join IPMS/USA" in the banner at the top of the home page, then select the type of membership (Junior, Adult, or Family) that you wish to renew, then select "Renewal" in the Options menu. Note to admins: Perhaps "Join IPMS/USA" should be amended to "Join/Renew IPMS/USA." Nick beat me to it!
  18. Has anyone thought to contact Boeing? Don't know the exact color, but here's a photo of the restored Dash 80 in the National Air and Space Museum that gives a good impression of it: https://www.airliners.net/photos/small/1/6/8/1161861.jpg
  19. It appears that Shapeways has reorganized its website to make items easier to find. Here is a link to the "Aircraft" index page, where you can filter by scale, type, era, and country. Accessories such as engines are also included. There's even a Norden bombsight! https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace/miniatures/aircraft/ There are also index pages for sci-fi, ships, vehicles, trains, and other items. Note: I have no connection to Shapeways or any of the designers whose work is sold there.
  20. I've just learned that, in response to huge demand, GSI Creos will soon be releasing this new product, containing all necessary additives: But Mr. Water Thinner will still be available for those who like to mix it themselves.

  22. When I was a kid, I received Revell's Space Station and not one, but two XSL-01 moon rockets the same Christmas!. Those were scrapped long ago, but I was able to acquire one each on ebay and have them set aside. I also have a Design-a-Plane set. Remember that?
