Hannant’s is my go-to shop for the items I’m interested in, mainly European kits and hard-to-find resin, photoetch, and decals that are slow to arrive in the U.S., if they arrive at all. I’ve also used Hobby Terra for the same reason. Service and turnaround from both is excellent. I’ve also occasionally bought from the Aviation Megastore (Luchtvaart Hobby Shop) in Amsterdam, but their shipping is very expensive although their service is excellent as well. My go-to U.S. vendor has been Dauntless Hobbies, doing business on eBay as Scott’s Model Workshop (seller i.d. “RebelAlpha). He also seems to have the stuff I’m looking for, and his service and turnaround times are excellent as well.

As a former editor and sworn officer of the Grammar Police (motto: “To Serve and Correct”), I propose the following definitions:
Kit: What comes in the box/bag
Model/Contest Entry: What goes on the shelf/contest table
(Disclaimer: I am not a National contest judge and was not involved in drafting the BKB rule.)

Words fail me, except to say that models like this are the reason IPMS needs a separate "Real Space" category for the national contest.

Most art supply stores carry color mixing wheels, and they can be found on-line. They will not give you such specific mixing data as you are looking for, but they will give you a further understanding of color theory.

Before you buy more Brawny paper towels, do some research on their parent company, Koch Industries. You may not like what you find. Me, I prefer to spend my money elsewhere.

My understanding is that henceforth, OOTB will be single media (plastic) only. That is, if a model built from a kit includes resin and/or photoetch in addition to plastic, it must be entered in the regular category and NOT OOTB. This is something of a return to the original concept of OOTB. The change will be implemented by IPMS NCT at next year’s ScaleFest, which is returning after a 2-year hiatus.

Andy Yanchus, former Project Manager at Aurora for many years, expert on kit history, and co-author of the Aurora Monster Scenes book (with Dennis Prince), and later a colorist for Marvel Comics, died Saturday, 11 September 2021, aged 75, after a longish illness. He was staying with his sister, Pat, at her home in Florida, having moved down, he had hoped temporarily, from his home in New York. Recently he had been working with Atlantis Models as a consultant.

I’ve been a member, though not continuous, since 1967. I had to drop out for a while in the early ‘90s due to pressures from graduate school, but have managed to retain my original membership number.
The only fame I can claim is being one of those who spent a night on Jim Sage’s sofa and awakened in the morning to find a purring cat on my chest!

Does anyone out there have the instructions for AVM's Mirage M-50 Pantera conversion set for the 1/72 Kfir C2/C7 (#AVM 7209)? I purchased this item on ebay some months back only to find the instructions missing. I contacted the maker, one Alejandro von Schwedler G, who informed me that he had lost his original due to a hard drive failure but was "redrawing new instructions" and promised me a copy "in about 10 more days." That was on March 1, and I have heard nothing further from him since, in spite of at least one reminder.
So if anyone has this conversion kit, I'd very much appreciate a copy of the instructions. I tried Scalemates, but no joy there. Thanks in advance. -
I have 60-year-old tins of Humbrol, and they are as fresh as the day they left the factory. It is necessary, however, to keep the rim of the tin and its lid clean before sealing it after use. I thin mine with a 50-50 mix of lacquer thinner and mineral spirits and use mineral spirits for cleaning my airbrush.

It’s the active runway. The “23” indicates it is on a magnetic heading of 230 degrees. The other (reciprocal) end would be numbered “05.”

The question I (and others) have is: Why would anyone go to the expense and effort to resurrect a business and brand that has had such a bad reputation for the last several years, especially without those components that made it unique? Without Squadron/Signal’s books, True Details resin parts, Superscale decals, Czech Models, and Encore kits, the “new” Squadron is just another hobby retailer competing against the likes of Sprue Brothers, Kitlinx, Hannants, and HobbyLinkJapan, to name just a few. It makes no sense.
