  1. Chris, Hope it works out for you. I grew up in Norfolk (but I've lived away from there for 50 years) and the Hampton Roads area has lots of great attractions. My top rated place for new visitors would be Williamsburg ( a short and easy drive from Hampton), with Virginia Beach #2. Good Luck and See you soon,
  2. Chris, Thanks for your quick response and Sounds Good to me Yes, "Pinning" the Thread will give it more focus. We'll see..... Please feel free to use anything from my proposal in the Thread Intro/description/prompt. TAKE CARE and see you in Hampton.
  3. I'd like to take this opportunity to both; 1. Thank You Dennis for the GREAT job you have done overseeing and developing these boards and 2. Thank You Mark for so enthusiastically "picking-up-the-rains" for this important tool from Dennis. I really enjoy these Forums and their continuously improving evolution. I'm very pleased that you plan to aggressively stay on that track. A suggestion for our consideration; Enhancing our Convention attendance with a "Convention Planning"(?) Threads aimed at; 1. Encouraging attendees to consider Room-sharing. 2. Facilitate Ride-shares for both the dive to the Convention and the Airport-to-Hotel Ive done both the above for years with a number of different IPMS members. I've never had a problem, made new friends, saved $$$, and enhanced my convention experience. Include other convention planning items. For example - my Convention Pocket Schedule (Excel format) I prepare each year ( listing my Meetings, Events, Appointments, Phone #s, etc.). I offered it (free) last year on the Forum. etc. A few other members have utilized the Forum for the all above but it's been on a catch-as-catch-can basis. Perhaps a more focused approach might increase member participation and better serve our members.
  4. You are in for a great adventure and wonderful time there. The other modelers from Europe will be very friendly and a pleasure to spend the all to short time with. And of course the family reunion will be lifetime memory. ENJOY every minute of it my friend.
  5. Vladimir, Thank You for your Comprehensive Presentation of the Models and other Convention Activities. Thank You for all the effort and time you spent for us. About the National Achievement Awards presented at the Banquet? I couldn't find any mention of the Chapter, Chapter Newsletter, Regional Coordinator, and WebMaster of the Year Awards. Or was someone else covering those? Thanks Again and TAKE CARE,
  6. I too would rather not see advertising on our official IPMS/USA Convention T-shirts. This could get out-of-hand and head toward a NASCAR-like Advertisers competition for more prominent ad space. Advertisers can follow Squadron Shop's lead in using T-shirts to advertise.
  7. The 2014 National Convention web page (http://www.ipmsusa2014.com/) is up. Lynn Ritger has provided us with a superb Convention page in keeping with our 50th Anniversary show. Lynn has thoughtfully and appropriately paid homage to the year 1964 with the style of the site, a link offering "a nostalgic look back at our hobby and our world fifty years ago", and other Links on this visually attractive and well organized site. Lynn has been an outstanding chapter web master for years and it really shows here. Well Done Lynn. My congratulations and appreciation.
  8. Phil, All the time time and effort you put into this for our our enjoyment is very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you in Hampton next year. THANK YOU Again, Ralph
  9. YEA !! Yes, Another GREAT Convention. :P Applause for the Committee and the Embassy Suites Host Hotel (Great Manager's Receptions). Thank You. Sad to say - I got there, blinked, and it was over all to quickly. See you all in Hampton next year.
  10. I have a Convention Schedule (Excel) template I've used over the years. It's on one page, covers Tuesday-Sunday, Tri-folds up into convenient pocket size. And it's FREE. Use it to write in the Events you select, Cell phone numbers of people you'll call, Vendors Booth #s, etc. Anything you want to refer to on the run. I find very handy. Anyone is welcome to copy via e-mail attachment. Send your e-mail address to ralf7@verizon.net. Have a SAFE TRIP and See you in Colorado.
  11. Keith, GREAT!! Thank You Very Much and I'm looking forward to meeting you. I insist on buying you breakfast in appreciation for your generous help. I'm not for getting up that early but couldn't resist getting the only decent direct flight to Philly. BTW - My e-mail: ralf7@verizon.net. May I have yours? More Later and TAKE CARE, Ralph
  12. Keith, I too will be leaving the Convention Hotel @ 4:00 AM Sunday for the Denver Airport (for 7:00 am Flight) and would like to catch a ride with you if possible?
  13. Gil, Looking forward to seeing you AND hope to see these two gems in Colorado in August. Very nice choices and beautiful reproduction of the GeeBee. The GeeBee has always been a special joy to look at and the B-45 was the first real Jet I saw up close after joining the USAF in Dec 51 - but that's another story... See you soon and TAKE CARE, Ralph
  14. Gil, Your skills with vac-u-form aircraft models is absolutely AWESOME. I'd love to watch you work through one with a step-by-step instructions on your techniques. If I lived near you I'd probably bug you to death. :-) BYW - Did you ever consider doing a Seminar Vac-U-Form Techniques at a National Convention? I'd be on the front row! BTW #2 - I also have one of the first vac-U-form kits (from he late 60's(?). t was a P-40(B?) kit from England. It consisted of a fuselage and canopy to be mated with other parts from the old Revel 1/72 kit. Thanks for sharing your superb models. Looking forward to seeing you again at a National.
  15. Suggest you contact Chuck Holte, the Convention Chairman at; chair@ipmsusa2013.com He's in the best position to know about or check into this. There have been past reports of "Sold-out" by Hotel Staff that were incorrect. Good Luck and TAKE CARE, Ralph
  16. The official 2013 Convention web page came on-line today and is an excellent presentation of information on the event. My congratulations, to Eieen Persichetti, Webmaster, on her exceptionally well designed Convention web page. It's easy to navigate, well thought out, and above all; very informative at this stage of development. THANK YOU Eieen. :-)
  17. Yes, it was a "Special" inserted into a Journal issue.
  18. My congratulations to our hosts on an exceptionally well run convention. Everything exceeded my expectations and I came home me with many fond memories. My sincere THANK YOU TO ALL.
  19. Booked my room today and received my Confirmation via eMail. Making my Reservation went very smoothly :-)
  20. It would be very helpful if someone "in the know" from the CO Convention group could chime in here. PLEASE
  21. Mike, THANK YOU very much for your prompt and very specific response to the queries on this Forum. Your info is certainly most interesting and intriguing. See You in Orlando and TAKE CARE,
  22. Ah - the ever useful spreadsheet. Each year I map out my personal schedule using an Excel spreadsheet. It has each day by half hour in a simple 3-fold one page (Tues - Sun) 3 days each side, pocket size schedule with space for friend's cell #s, must-see Vendors, etc. Anyone wanting my Excel template is welcomed - e-mail me directly at; ralf7@verizon.net See You in Orlando, have a SAFE TRIP, and TAKE CARE, Ralph
  23. A real Beauty. I'm jealous of both your obvious modeling skills and patience. Thanks for sharing your model and story.
  24. Nor am I a Twitter user - But I hope members posting original info on Twitter will also post it on these official IPMS/USA Forums. See you in Orlando - till then TAKE CARE,
