  1. Ahhhhhh......Barry Numerick=great Luftwaffe stuff (especially paint jobs!)! 'Nuf said! Thanks for sharing the tip! GIL
  2. Very cool Emil! I like the early schemes because although the camo jobs have less variations, there are more variations in personal markings. The painted out wing crosses are unusual. Is there a story about those? Also, how did you replicate those dainty antenna insulators in 1/72? Nice build! GIL
  3. Welcome Paul! From your description, you sound just like everyone else here! I think we all buy more than we build and build slower than we'd like to (and detest the guys who build quickly and only buy what they immediately build ) Post some more pics if you get a chance. For some reason I can't open them this evening. Make yourself at home! Cheers! GIL
  4. That Japaneses Sea Knight is SWEET! Love the camo! Keep 'em comin' Duke! GIL
  5. Glad you're here Gabriele! Those are some VERY nice builds. The complicated camo is what's kept me from tackling some of the Italian aircraft. Great to have your contributions here on our site! GIL
  6. According to the Aeromaster instruction sheet, the markings on the Hurricane are for 229 Squadron, Sept. 1940, flown by pilot officer V. Ortmans (Belgian). I don't know anythng about him, and the instruction sheet doesn't differentiate these markings as being for an early or late MkI Hurricane. I picked it because it was one of the few with any personal markings, the "P" side codes seem to match other very early 'Canes, and because the date is at the height of the BoB. Thanks for kind words guys! Cheers! GIL
  7. Got the Spitfire done! It's the old Revell MkII, OOTB except for rescribing. Kit decals (sucky half-tone printed things too!) depicting Douglas Bader's mount. Comments, questions, and critiques welcome! Cheers! GIL
  8. Got my Hurricane done. It's the Classic Airframes MkI "ragwing" Hurricane, pretty much OOTB. Aeromaster decals. Coments, questions, and critiques welcome! Cheers! GIL
  9. Nice looking Emil! Can't wait to see the end result! GIL
  10. JUst goes to show that anything is buildable; with patience, determination, and the skills you possess! Looks great James! Take 2 demerits for forgetting the wipers and 4 attaboys for a job well done! GIL
  11. Looks great to me! The camo is tight and the silver canopy adds a nice contrast. Nice MiG! GIL
  12. Top notch (and delicate) work there! I love those yellow wire bundles in your cockpit! What did you use for those? The mottling is very sharp, as are the painted markings. Congrats on a beautiful build! GIL
  13. Absolutely lovely! Thanks for the explaination for the "camo" look to that scheme! GIL
  14. Beautiful model! That grill really gives it a "cheeky" grin on the front end though....Congrats! GIL
  15. Beautiful model, artfully displayed! Looks like one of those "odd-ball" 135s I'd see going in and out of Dayton years ago.....Thanks for posting! GIL

Yet another outstanding build Michael! Love the mottling and the home defense bands add some color to the overall scheme. Congrats, and thanks for sharing! GIL
  17. I'd bet you have a shorter way to go than you think! Doggone good looking Hellcat! I know I'd be happy with that result every day of the week and twice on Sundays! Thanks for sharing! GIL
  18. Looking good! What scale is this paper Eindekker? GIL
  19. No pics today, but got a lot of "fiddly" work done. I built up the nose cannons from 3 different sizes of steel tubing, built up the rocket tube supports from spare parts and strip plastic, and finished up the final sanding, scribing, and primering of the model. Glad you got to see Bill at the show. He does sell a lot of vac stuff, especially to me! I made the mistake of buying his B-24 Ford nose conversion in Columbus last summer. I say "mistake" because I did it while my wife was standing there with me! ("How much is this? Is that all that's in the box?") I think Bill got some perverse pleasure in watching the whole scene unfold! The lesson for y'all: when the wife is there with you, tell the vendor you'll "think about it" and then sneak back later to get it! GIL
  20. Wow! That's not just a great looking model, but great photography too! At first I started to berate you for trying to pass off airshow pics as a model......... Impressive work! What kit and what scale is it? Thanks for posting! GIL
  21. Is the Cobb County Civic Center also known as the Bell Recreation Center? I was looking on Mapquest and the Rec Center is shown at the location of the show (Marietta Pkwy/Fairgrounds Rd), but not the "Civic Center"......has there been a site name change and the map names are old info, or does it go by both names? Thanks! GIL
  22. But I love the smell of Dullcoat in the morning..... GIL
  23. I may be in the camo stage, but it looks like you have as many parts in your cockpit as I have in my entire model! Mind boggling craftsmanship! GIL
