  1. Nice BoB Hurricane Mike! "Repeat please"...... "Monkeys could fly better than that"! Gil
  2. ZOMBIE Snow White? I LOVE it! Looks like you and your family share both talent AND tastes in modeling. Nice work all around! GIL
  3. That's some top-notch work! I'm looking forward to more as you make more progress! GIL
  4. Glad to have with us Gary! Enjoy the party! GIL
  5. Dangit .....I was expecting to see one built and posted here...... GIL
  6. Ah-Toledo! The city Ohio tried to give to Michigan-who wouldn't accept it! Glad to have ya here with us. I spent 20yrs in R-4 (Rickenbackers '79-'99) and went to many a show up Toledo way! Please post some pics of your work. Cheers! GIL
  7. Gorgeous! I also like the way you turned the nose wheel for that more dynamic appearance. Congrats! GIL
  8. Great pics, and it's particularly nice to see so many pics of the people, and not just the models. Thanks for sharing! GIL
  9. That's a sharp one Mike! You've shown your talent level by spraying the Alclad directly on the plastic. That takes a fine touch, and I know I'm too heavy handed to do it! Congrats on another inspiring build! GIL
  10. Actually, I almost always buy the CHEAP (4tubes/.99) regular superglue at Walmart. It works fine, it mixes better with baby powder (slower set up time than super-thin "hobby" super-glues), and if half a tube goes bad (which is very seldom), I'm out .15! I also buy the gel type super glue to use on landing gear and other items that need a bit more "bracing". Another good type of thick super-glue is the Gorrilla brand, which supposedly has some rubber mixed in that gives it better shear strength. GIL
  11. Love the splotches on the side skirts! GIL
  12. I think the "pattern" on the sub looks great! You wanted to show that the area is something different from the rest of the hull and it catches the eye without being over bearing. If you factor in "scale", your patterning is probably closer to the real thing than you think. Overall, it was an ingenious idea executed brilliantly! Congrats, and thanks for the tutorial too! GIL
  13. As far as 1/48 aircraft go, I'd have to say either the Tamiya P-51B or their P-47D Razorback are the best kits out there. There are other more detailed kits, but I don't think you can top those two for detailing that comes with the kit and especially for the absolute "click" perfect fit of each one. Heck, the T-bolt even has the gun barrels arleady drilled out! GIL
  14. I only need to edit EVERY post! As my sister pointed has pointed out to me, I'm no rocket surgeon! GIL
  15. Just want to say "kudos" to the WR guys on their show yesterday! I had fun and saw some guys I hadn't seen in YEARS! Thanks! GIL
  16. Here's a couple more pics without the annoying clutter reflecting on the base... And here's the Matching C-47 "hack"... This is the Monogram 1/48 kit. Stripes are painted and the rest of the decals from the spares box. Scheme came from the SS Fighting Colors "USAF in Europe, vol.2" and was used '53-'54. Cheers! GIL
  17. That's looking pretty slick! I actually mistook a 102 for a 106 at the WR Museum yesterday, but it wasn't a completely stupid mistake on my part. I looked at the tail and it was squared off up top and pointed out the "106". A buddy quickly corrected me saying, "no, 102. Look at the bulging around the exhaust". It was then we realized that the tip top of the 102's tail was missing, resulting in the resemblance to a 106. That's going to be a very colorful Dagger! Looking forward to the finished pics! GIL
  18. Actually, if you go up to your 1rst post and edit it, you should be able to edit the title, if you so desire. GIL
  19. Big Frank looks like he has some attitude! GIL
  20. That has some very cool mystique to it! Nice build of an absolutely ancient offering! GIL
  21. Nice work Michael! Looks like they took the prop seaplane as far as they could....and it IS a FUGLY airplane! Thanks for sharing! GIL
  22. Von: I used Airframe aluminum overall with White aluminum for the contrasting parts, and dark aluminum for the tail pipe area. Thanks for all the kind words! GIL
  23. I really like the weathering on this one, especially on the cowling. Nice Zero Ying! GIL
  24. Delightful dainty Dauntless Chris! They'll be thrilled with your work once they return from slacking off! GIL
  25. This is the Monogram/Revell 1/48 F-84G kit, backdated to an E with a retrofitted "G" canopy (couldn't find the "E" kit!). The kit comes with both canopies, but you have to fill in the air bleed doors on the fuselage sides, cut off the refueling probes from the tip tanks, and remove the refueling boom doors from the upper left wing to backdate the aircraft. The model was built OOTB and Cutting Edge decals supplied the markings for Col. Scott's Thunderjet. The markings for this late F-84E are basically the same as for his early E, except for the additon of the command stripes on the fuselage, the later canopy, and slightly different lightning bolts on the tip tanks. I was less than impressed with the some of the engineering on this kit, particularly with the nose gear. It really needs a wire pin for strength. Also, the instructions are very poor for the main gear, failing to show precisely how to fit the scissors links and the gear retraction links. You'll need close up pics from some reference of the main gear to see how the parts are supposed to fit! Out side of that, the fit of the kit parts is pretty good and the detailing is very nice. I used Alclad for the NMF and Testors True Blue for the tip tanks (a good match for the decal tail striping!) The tail stripes fit the tail quite well, while the command stripes were a bit fussy (a bit too long). The red nose flash didn't fit AT ALL, and so it had to be masked and painted. The stars/bars, stencils, and the USAF modex decals are from the kit and went down just as nicely as the Cutting Edge decals. Overall this was an enjoyable build, and it makes a nice companion to Scott's C-47 squadron hack (in the same markings) on my shelf! Comments, questions, and critiques welcome, as always! Cheers! GIL
