  1. My my, some people are just too touchy! I too look forward to the scheme you apply to this obscene alien contraption! GIL
  2. Hmmmm.....are we sure that isn't a violation of Rule 5? Gil
  3. Glenn: is this project a "secret", or can you post the type of plane it is? I have a lot of detail pics in albums at home from the USAF Museum (I REFUSE to call it that stupid new trumped up fancy name), some of which might be useful to your project. By the way, it's MUcH harder to take those pics theses days, as the USAFM now frowns on guys crawling under the displays! GIL
  4. Dude! You've got SKILLS! Using the sewing thread for seat cover material is a new one on me, and it looks impressive. Be sure to post this stuff down in the Automotive topics too. They're gonna LOVE you! Welcome! GIL
  5. Welcome Alyn! Glad to have you, and I think you'll find an avid group of car builders. I don't build many myself, but lean towards hot rods and sports cars when I do, as opposed to racers and stock/showroom types. Post some of your builds when you can. In the meantime, enjoy the manic mayhem! GIL
  6. There's no difference. But, since Agapemodels.com is a Christian modeling website, they use the term "fellowship". Made a small allowance for accuracy and modified my floor, making some cut-outs so the "whole" floor looks more "floorless" when installed. This is the new look... The slot for the shoulder harness and the headrest have also been added, as well as detailing for the foot channels. That nasty looking area will be covered by the seat! GIL
  7. Ahhh...Fame! Yes, those are some of my old pe parts thrown in there for gratuitous (and inaccurate) detailing! The rest are gathered from an old Airwaves "generic" cockpit detail set (who obviously copied MY idea!) GIL
  8. There's a Fellowship Build for Hurricanes over on Agapemodels.com, and the old Monogram kit is all I had in the stash! As I have a couple of them on the shelf already, I decided to convert it to a Sea Hurricane. All that's needed for that is some simple cutting and boxing in in the rear. I've also built the arrestor hook, but forget to take a pic of it! It needs a totally scratch built interior, as it comes with none! And here is the rest of the cockpit, except the main panel, which still needs to be built up. You can also see the main gear rebuilt (originally designed to function) and detailed with actuators... Which fits into the boxed in main gear wells... Still have a l-o-n-g way to go, but the hardest work is done. Questions, comments, and critiques welcome as always! GIL
  9. Nice work Duke! Unfortunately, I just got this model and thoguth I'd do that scheme.......Snoozed and lost again... Isn't that sort of a short run kit? Kudos on completing it! GIL
  10. Very nice work. How did the Quickboost wings fit? Any problems, because I sure don't see evidence of any! GIL
  11. Ooooh...that is pretty! And 1/72? I look forward to seeing some more pics! GIL

And I thank you, as I need all the help I can get! GIL
  13. Great pics! I saw a lot of inspirational work that I'd like to have on my own shelf. Thanks for sharing! GIL

Coming along nicely Michael! Will it be done by next weekend in time for Orlando? GIL
  15. I see no evidence of rust, on the brakes or the build! Looking forward to seeing this one in person again. GIL
  16. Cool! Now there's a Hellcat you don't see every day! Who makes the decals? GIL
  17. Congrats James! Sounds like the place was packed, which is always fun! Looking forward to the pics. GIL
  18. Like Dizzy Dean used to say..."It ain't braggin' if'n you can do it!" Congrats Duke! I'd be proud too if I placed as much as you did. I'll be sure to toot my horn if it ever happens, but for now my horn is still growing tarnish... GIL
  19. That green banana must not be ripe yet...... Looks great Mark! I have one of those to build in 1/48, but I keep opening the box and then put it back on the shelf for a day when I have more courage (it's the Fonderie Miniature 1/48 kit). Congrats on yet another fine build! GIL
  20. Wow! That's a heck of a base for a 747! That would make a pretty cool diorama.... I can't see the Spruce Goose without remembering when it was in Long Beach next to the Queen Mary, and the local IPMS club there bid for the IPMS Nats. Somehow, the Eboard at the time thought that everyone would rather go to Sacramento....... Yeah, right! The more things change, the more they stay the same! GIL
  21. It's not pink! It's 1970's Scale Modeler red! GIL
  22. Beautiful NMF! As for the rivets, that's actually quite authentic for that time period. Nice Texan! GIL
  23. Nice catch! Sometimes the toughest thing to see is the one right in front of us! GIL
  24. Richard: I don't know of a dedicated "sheet" made that includes 'Nam markings. The short Google search I did revealed a lot of people looking for 1/32 F-104 decals! That said, I can offer you some help... 1) I have the Victory productions 1/48 sheet that has an 8th TFW SEA scheme on it. You could copy those markings and use that to enlarge to 1/32 and make a set of decals. 2) I believe I have an old Monogram 1/48 F-104C with SEA markings. Once again, you could copy those to make 1/32 decals 3) IF you have a particular scheme in mind, and know exactly the markings needed (i.e.- all of the individual letters, #s, and their sizes), we can search my decal spares and try to come up with what you need. The good thing about SEA schemes is that aside from the stuff on the tail, very often there's not a lot of other unit stuff on the plane, making it easier to cobble together markings! Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will be along with some better directions soon. If not, use me to fall back on. Cheers! GIL
  25. My understanding is that the Tamiya kit is better in 1/48, though the Hasgawa kit isn't bad at all. Thanks for the kind words! GIL
