Gil, that is exactly what the paddles are semaphore to signal other tank when to turn without exposure to a lead filled environment. Mr. Bell your tank is very nice. Takom has a Mk IV & a MkV also. Ronbo.
  2. Smooth like Coolwhip! Great work James Ronbo.
  3. I am member in 5 I.P.M.S. clubs an officer in one. I know my number is used to make the the required national member quota in at least one of the clubs. I have no problem with any club using my IPMS number that I am a paying member of. I consider it a service to the club that I can do to help. I also belong to 3 other modeling clubs. Needless to say I have a model meeting every week and twice a month two in one week. It's good to be retired. Add to that 33 models shows a year vending, entering contests, and looking at a lot of models. Ronbo.
  4. I have always found it easier to buy direct from the manufacturer. Costs are lower and shipping times 10 days or less. Ronbo.
  5. I just received the Journal yesterday. I was concerned myself mine most times shows up at beginning of the month. RONBO.
  6. James, I think you can find the kit in the same configuration that you seek .The first Dragon kits in the red box has a Sherman with the 76 mm cannon and with a little cutting the Easy 8 running gear. I think I may still have one. From what I remember take that for what's it worth that configuration was used in late '44 thru the end of the war and beyond with various countries. I hope this helps. Ronbo, Head Bottle Washer.
  7. The Northshore club put on a great event the models were very nice. They even had a disco ball during the raffle and the during the award ceremony nice touch. The food was also very good. The vendors were excellent also. A good time had by all. Ronbo

  10. I am sorry to hear about that. Is there an option for armor builders to enter the IPMS contest? Ronbo

  12. I just picked up the Rob Walker Team Lotus Type 72C 1970 The decals seem sort of tame ,lame Ect.... I was looking for the sponser decals. Any leads would be of great help. Also I would like to wire up the engine. I would think I could use old Tamiya F1 car to guide me there. I anyone can point me in the right direction that would help very much. Thank you. Ronbo
  13. We had a great time at the Kontest on Saturday. Great models and very good vendors. I look forward to next year. Clare, Jack sezzz hello. I like the new venue also. Ronbo.
  14. I just finished the kit and I am ready to paint. I just don't want to do a plain green tank .In the kit they give you two choices one plain green and the other a Afgan one from 1979 in Afgan markings they give you the camo colors but not the base color. Any help or idea's would be of great help. :army7: Thanks Ronbo.
  15. I would like to see any scale except box a Ford Tri Motor. Monogram pulled of a Ju-52 why not a Tri Motor? Ronbo :gold-plane:
  16. In one of my clubs we have a catagorie called American Gold. And what that entails is any American made model company from 1983 or older. For example Strombecker,Aurora, Adams ,Revell, Monogram. Renwal, Lindburg,Hawk,Ect.... You get the idea. We build OOB. You would be surprised how some of the kits come close to contest standards. As an aside these kits most of this age won't see the light of day in most contests. So it is kind of neat to see at a contest 20-30 old kits. That might be something for you to consider. Looking for help!

I just picked up the old Kirin mineroller. I was thinking on using it on the Tamiya JS II. The box is marked for late T-34's and T-54's. Is there any information out there of JS II's using the mineroller? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance RONBO.
  22. I attended the Butch O'Hare meeting last night. And I met a young boy ,man named Peter all of about 12 or 13 yrs of age. Just sitting in the back of the meeting room with an older I assume retired man who I think was his grandfather I think. I am not sure if they are members because I have only seen them about twice before last night. During a break in the meeting Peter comes up to me by way of an introduction from his grandfather and showed me what he was working on. The old 1/48th Spitfire MK1 from Monogram almost complete in flight gear up and ready to paint. the rear stabs were all out of alingment but the rest of the plane looked pretty good. I told Peter that he was doing a good job. He thank me. They were ready to leave but the Show & Tell part of the meeting was about to start so I asked them both to stay and talk about the models that they brought. Peter talked about his Spitfire he's just a bit shy but he got thru it. His grandfather brought a Monogram Helldiver about 90% finished. At the Butch'OHare club you get a raffel ticket for taking part in the Show & Tell. He told me he would not be at the next meeting due to him going to summer camp I told him that the raffel ticket coud be used at the next meeting he could attend. But while the meeting was going on I went to my truck and found a kit for him the Hasegawa FW 190 with a car. 1/48th he seems to have a BoB thing going. He thank me as did his grandfather. All in all a nice visit. It took me back to the days that all I wanted was a Monogram Kingfisher build it on Saturday and play with all day Sunday and fly it out of my father's car window. That's why I got into modeling. Now if I could just get 500 more young men like Peter it would be a wonderful thing. RONBO
  23. You also might want to try Testors grey primer lst dry then Testors flat black. Then a dry brush of red brown then a drybrush of MM steel on the raised portions of your metal tracks. Good Luck...... RONBO
