  1. Two things Gil 1) I think you misunderstood my comments about Omaha, it had nothing to do with heat/temp/ or weather but a central location and dead of the summer was a refrance to time of the summer IE no school .... 2) I agree with the family thing as it is for US, my wife went to a couple and was soon bored to tears ;-) But > (Ya knew it was comming), being able to bring the boy especially since he's asking to go, it would be nice to be able to bring him and thus furthering the expansion of the society. So I see both sides in this one.. Jim
  2. Ok 3rd week in July, Omaha......Right in the middle of the country and in the dead of summer. Not to sure how the Omaha contingent will feel about this ;-) Orrrrrrrr, you take the numbers of the best 3 to 4 sites across the country per region and have it rotate. Again those same 4 cities will probably get tired of doing it once every 3 to 4 years. Orrrrrrrr, we ride the wave as long as we can and then go into crisis management when no one bids. Works for our FD that I'm a part of LOL. What kinda gets me is that some years we get 3 bidders, other times we get 0 and start hopin

  4. Nick et all For some reason I can't copy and paste the link here. But if you go to the FAC section of the 2013 site and then look under shuttle transportation there will be a link to the super shuttle site. Just hit book online and type in your particulars and you'll be booked.. HTH Jim
  5. I just booked my round trip shuttle ride. According to the convention site its $25 each way and cheaper stil if you book online. Wellllll not so much, but it's only slightly more expensive. I just paid $31 each way for a $62 total. Again when you think about it thats still pretty cheap for a $94 mile round trip. Jim
  6. Gil Wellll according to the site they have 45 vendors AND are sold out... Jim
  7. I asked awhile back and was told soon. Don't know why they couldn't put out what they have right now, "Well I have an idea why they may not want to" , But all I can say is just wait to see what happens on the site. Jim
  8. Ok, it's what Ron said. We will start the party with the 2013 convention and it with the 2014 convention on the 50th Anv. Why have just one party when you can have a small er one to start and a big bang to finish the year... Jim
  9. The kickoff to the 50th year long celabration will commence at this upcomming 2013 convention. HTH Jim
  10. Ok, maybe not register models ,but we can usually fill out the forms so that when we do register the models at the convention we can just hand it all to the folks behind the counter. That may be what Mike is talking about. Jim
  11. I just booked mine. They didn't say anything about getting transfered when the block goes active BUT I had a hard time understanding the lady taking the res so she may have mentioned it and I didn't catch it. Jim
  12. Ed Well with only 220 rooms total in the whole hotel one wants to make sure they get in . And I spoke with them yesterday, they said the block isn't entered in thier system yet since they usually go in 50 weeks out form the time it starts. Also were not dealing with the local IPMS chapter were dealing with the hotel directly. I have found if one waits for thier link to go live then you may be left holding the bag and it be to late even by then and I know I don't want to end up in an overflow as quite a few did this year and were not to happy about it. Jim
  13. As Gil mentioned, you need to use the direct number that was on the pamphlet they were passing out. Thats the one I used and was told to call next Monday to see if our convention was loaded or not. Well heck, alot of us get loaded at these but I don't think thats what he ment LOL. Jim
  14. For those interested, I spoke with reservations and they won't be set up to take them untill Monday the 20th at the earliest, and thats not in stone. Seem's that our convention has to be "Loaded" into the system and that may or may not happen on the 20th. If not then we'll have to ask for "Group sales" to see if were loaded into the system. Jim
  15. Well it WAS going to be a mouse house trip but my son starts school the day the convention starts and my wife nixed any idea of going just to hurry home the night before school starts. Her and I did Epcot/Universal in 99 but I;m all in for the convention with a side trip to the USN Avaition museum on the Monday before. Jim
  16. I like Ken's 1:1 referance material hangin on his wall ;-) JIm
  17. Cyrus Tan lives in Orange Ca and is one of the better mdelers in So Cal. He's even won Tamiya con and a trip to Japan. An absolute hoot to hang out with especially sinc ewe build the same stuff , 48th modern jets. Jim
  18. Orangecon! Ya I think we could do that. I made one quite a few years ago and it was quite a nice little contest. It would also give me a chance to hang with Cyrus the Virus Jim

  20. Hi All This seams to be like a little confessional LOL. But here is my modeling story. Back around 1972 or so I was in the local "FedMart" when I noticed a 32nd scale Revell P-40 with a big Ole shark mouth on it. WOW I thought, how cool. So I grabbed it and headed off to find mom. Well she took one look and said no, if it has to be glued together then no. She was a neat freak and living in a trailer with space limitations to work put the kabosh on that. But I persisted, she gave me anohter excuse that i was to young, well in 72 I was in 2nd grade and so all I need was
