Hi all- I'm George, was introduced to the aircraft modeling hobby by my dad when I was 5 or 6 (I think), as he primed the pump with the first 4-5 planes built and strung from the ceiling in my room. Took me another couple of years before I was ready to add to the collection, but by the time I was 9 ( and was in a leg brace that kept me out of the athletic arena, stemming from a run-in with a car) I kicked my builds into high gear to the point that I cared about little else in life... that stage lasted through my HS sophomore year until my grades and attitude were not where my parents wanted them, so they changed the dynamics. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, 20 years went by before I started a brand-new build. I had a young family, and my efforts to share my hobby love with my girls did not result in a case of styrene fever, so another 20 years or so went by before I got serious about the hobby again, when my youngest girl gave me a Chinese Iwata knock-off with mini-compressor pedestal base ... I was determined not to let the menace of the new airbrush defeat me as it had in the past with my Aztek 3000, and my resolve has granted me a couple of pretty nice recent builds. This week I finally shook off my fear of committing aggravated nerdery by leaning into my hobby and joining IPMS/USA... who knows, I might just enter a build in the next local contest!
