  1. Well the postman brought this today! I saw it on eBay weeks ago and had been watching it. Around the time of my birthday the seller sent me one of those discounted offers with free shipping, so I took the deal. Happy Birthday to me! Lol! I built this kit when it was a new release, so I’ll have another go at it now, and theoretically do a better job now that I have a lot more skills, experience, and tools. I love this old experimental camo, and besides, this kit really has one of the best load outs of any 1/48 A-10 kits, Rockeyes & Mavericks.
  2. That one that I remember building! But I did mine in the box art markings… (love the Panthers in North Africa… lol!) David, you did a mighty fine job on the Revell classic! Well done sir!
  3. Thank you David. The M46 was a fun project, and as far as the Hawk V-1 build goes…well, that’s one of those old school classic kits. How can you not have fun with that one? As far as Dragon armor kits go… yeah, they can be a serious handful! Over engineered and instructions that will have you asking Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
  4. Thank you David. On the real tank, drivers usually have their hatch open and drive heads out most of the time. When they “button up” and close hatches, they have a rotating periscope in the hatch to see outside. You can see the brush guard railing on the hatch that protects the periscope.
  5. That turned out very nice! I don’t remember this kit of the A-20, only the Revell and Matchbox kits.
  6. If you’re a member of several hobby sites, why not put out feelers for such a trade? The worst that will happen is lots of “no” answers to your offer.
  7. There would be significant modifications to change an E to a J. At the very least is the nose and most likely the wings, slatted vs. hard, depending upon which E kit you have. Internally the cockpits had visual differences as well. Those decals look to be 1/32, so the quick answer is to buy the 1/32 Tamiya F-4J. Keep you E and build it with whatever markings the kit has, buy new markings, or dispose of th kit. Who knows, perhaps you might find someone who wants to swap their J for your E…
  8. And the decals are now on! Not that many, even if some are a bit large and gaudy. These Star Decals are a bit thick and matt in finish. It’s taken a few doses of Solvaset to get the larger ones to conform to the texturing.
  9. That came out pretty nicely David. What colors did you use on the exterior?
  10. So yesterday was bit more work on the road to completion, I painted the road wheel and return roller tires using Mission Models Rubber Black. Then I airbrushed on a coat of Future in preparation for decals Then I had to give the tracks a test fit… Decals coming soon…
  11. Decal problems or not, that turned out beautifully in the end! Bravo!
  12. Revell also issued this kit back in the 80’s in their Brown Box “History Makers” series, in USAF SEA colors and markings. I can’t remember if I made all the workable stuff operate or not when I built it back then.
  13. Another classic build David! And again you did a fine job on this one. The “Flight of the Intruder” clip is a nice touch. I remember seeing those Skyraiders being fixed up for that film at Long Beach Airport back in the late 80s.
  14. True that Mark! We’ll make ‘me an offer they can’t refuse… 😉
  15. Here… from a 70’s era Microscale Decal sheet
  16. Nice work on the old Beast! I used to have hours of fun with those Monogram 1/4” USN birds… folding wings, dropping bombs/torpedoes… sinking that flat top coffee table in the living room over and over… 😉
  17. The Monogram Mafia is over on Fine Scale Modeler. We ran several group builds to be “made” into the family 😉. Usually the requirement was to build two Monogram or Revell kits within a six month timespan. It was all in fun of course, but a nice way for fans of the companies to share our following amongst like minded modelers. Monogram Mafia FSM
  18. Mark, you got some good stuff there! I’d be with you on the paints, but all the other goodies are great scores. Made a run down to Andy’s Hobby HQ today and found this kit for a good price, so I could not say no… then I got these supplies…and for anyone in the area, Andy’s is now carrying Gunze’s Mr Color and Mr Hobby paint lines…. Between those and AK Real Color like I have here, my acrylic needs are now covered! And a nice restock on Value Gear too!
  19. I hear ya David. Over on another website many years ago, a few of us members started a “Monogram Mafia” after getting tired of the constant bashing those kits would take from some folks. As we both know, they are not unbuildable junk. Now some do take more modeling skills than others, most were cutting edge in model molding when they were first released.
  20. Very sharp & clean build! Nicely done! I think that Monogram did a great job in 1974 on the old girl.
  21. Woohoo! Olive Drab applied! I used Mission Models FS 33070 version of OD on this one. In all honesty, the more that I airbrush Mission Models, the less that I like them. Maybe it’s the dry climate here, but I get far better control and results with most every other brand. Anyways…. and some close ups of the casting texture and marks decals under the paint More to come in a few days…
  22. Looks good. I like the idea of adding the weight to give it a proper sit.
  23. Try a five minute epoxy. That will give you the time fudge factor to position the wheels properly. On a tail dragger, that’s pretty easy, but on a tricycle nose gear type, you may want to prop up the tail during the setting time to insure that the nose wheel ends up correct.
