  1. Ok, I’m calling this beast completed… an old shelf of doom damaged and sidelined project, many years, moves and repairs later, the old Dragon T-72M2/T-72B w/ERA. I added some resin stowage and figures. Also had a driver figure in there, but his head blocked the turret from rotating forward, so he was nixed… “Vanya, what’s that flash in the treeline?” Thanks for looking, comments and critiques are welcome…
  2. Boy, that’s turning the clock back fifty years or so…. I loved all of those kits back then. Still have a few to this day, but most don’t look quite so well done
  3. So I’ve gotten in a few aircraft kits over the past couple of weeks. A couple off of eBay, and one from consignment at Andy’s Hobby HQ shop First up, an old ESCI Mirage 5 that was the consignment find. then off of eBay, these two, where each one had the seller offer them up at discounted prices now for me to get an aircraft project finished up this year…
  4. Ya beat me to the finish line by about 30 minutes Mark 😉 But no hard feelings. 😏 This looks great, and I’m glad that you were able to partake in the challenge. It’s always more fun when you’re along for the ride.
  5. And now back to our regularly scheduled build… today I finished up priming the rest of this build so it’s all in black now, ready for regular painting to begin
  6. Beautiful build Bradley! Those old Hasegawa 1/32 Skyhawks are great kits, and you sure showed it with this build.
  7. Thanks Mark. I’ve really grown fond of dark primer on AFV builds. So here it is, completed at roughly the 11 hours, 45 minutes point, my entry into the So Cal AMPS 12 hours build challenge. Many entered, only a few crossed the finish line…. Not bad for 12 hours 😉
  8. Mark, those are some outstanding kits that you were gifted! I love all of those cruisers! And of course, all the Airfix aircraft are old school building fun…. and the armor kits, from early to fairly modern, so a nice spread with those. Those should all take you what? about a month or so to complete? 😉
  9. Son of a Beech, 2nd Class… 😉 The Beast… Outstanding work! I’m a sucker for folded wings builds in carrier aircraft nowadays. And you sure made this one look mighty fine !
  10. Oh that looks good! Another happy memory of a boyhood build! 👍
  11. Ah the childhood memories of the Aurora Easy 8 Sherman…. 😏 Looks good for its vintage. And your figures sure look better than I could ever do back then with those Testors paints & brushes. 😉 But if you can fix them, the tracks are on backwards. The base of the steel chevron V should be at the bottom and opening at the top of the links when viewed from the front.
  12. Keith, those are some really good scores! I’m really liking those two quarter scale kits, but that P-43 is sure a fine score as well! Well I’ve been slowly adding to the flyboys section of my stash over the past few weeks, so now it’s time to share… first up, some decals for the Hind in my stash that I had been wondering how to mark I took a chance and ordered them from Ukraine in early April, and they actually arrived within a few weeks. Next up is this gorgeous set for late career USMC Skyhawks. I can make at least two Scooters off this sheet, and possibly might acquire one more, as they have an F in the TPS grays! then I picked up this old decal set since I’m feeling the urge to model some Yellow Wings stuff… I haven’t done that since I was a kid and lastly this just arrived in todays mail, purchased off eBay for a fine price. It’s the old Hobbycraft molds, which arent bad at all, but it has a fabulous Cartograph decal sheet with about eight markings options. That’s all for now ;)
  13. Thanks Mark. Just wait until I get some OD on this baby… 😉 I had a good bench session in today after lunch. I completed about 95% of the turret assembly. I need to do a little bit of painting before I call the turret finished and I can move on to priming the turret Now of course I had to test fit the turret…. I think tomorrow that I’ll wrap up the rest of assembly aside from clear parts that I won’t glue into place until just before weathering….
  14. Since I had the airbrush up and running today, and the primer mixed properly, I also airbrushed on a coat onto the hull of this one after finishing with the Crusader AA session. I just left the driver periscopes undone as those are clear and I need to do an interior silver coat on those first. Now I need to start on the turret assembly…
  15. Since our second 4 hour build session was cut off an hour early, we had a “floater” 1 hour session to take at our own choice. I did mine today, adding some stowage items, then airbrushing on a coat of Mig One Shot Black Primer over everything So next session will be on May 28 when I finish this thing up…
  16. Keep ‘em coming Mark! I’m really liking all the subjects in your latest batch.
  17. Today I got in a few good long bench sessions and finished up the hull. First up I added the BII tools and PE detail bits to the fenders, glued on the tracks, then glued the fenders in place then later on I added the tow cables to the fenders, and the last detail items to the glacis area Now it’s all ready for priming the hull… I have another project that I want to prime, so two projects during the same priming session, and then I can start assembly on the turret later in the week.
  18. Had a short workbench session today.., I glued on all the road wheels and did the basic construction of the fenders. The sprocket wheels are test fitted but not glued in place until I add the tracks. I’m deviating fro. The instruction a bit now by concentrating on the hull before I start on the turret. The instructions by this point have you bouncing back and forth.
  19. So I’ve made a bit more progress over the past few days… First up, I added the engine rear and top deck areas, the biggest visual difference between the M48/M48A1 and all of the follow on variants. Much closer is appearance to the preceding M46 & M47, than the A2, A3, A5 and M60 family engine decks… Then earlier today I added the road wheel arms, shocks, and final drive housings More to come in a day or two….
  20. Steps 3 & 4 now completed - bits added to upper hull, the upper and lower hulls glued together That’s enough for today….
  21. Well here I go again… another Patton tank… but not just any Patton, but the mount of “The King” I’m going to make Elvis’ M48A1 from GI Blues, turning this kit into this So far I’ve completed steps 1 & 2 and built the road wheels and basic lower hull Stay tuned for more progress updates…. Thank you very much 😉
  22. So since my last update I’ve been slowly working on the Bearcat. First up I had to paint the wing walk and exhaust areas flat black, as I forgot to do so when I painted the anti glare area on the nose. Next I airbrushed on an overall coat of a satin light gray as a base for the NMF Then I airbrushed on a coat of Humbrol non buffing metal cote Aluminum It turned out a bit rougher than I though it would, but should look the part for faded weathered aluminum in the end. Next I airbrushed on a coat of Future for decals Then today I applied the decals. They are fairly simple- national insignia, squadron insignia, and plane in group ID letter The decals need another dose of decal set to snuggle into the panel lines, then another light Future coat before I can do a wash in the panel lines…
  23. Oh wow! I do love those old Missing Link conversions. You did a mighty fine job with this conversion. 👍🏻
  24. Todays build session was cut to three hours, with the caveat to use the cut hour on your own (honor system) or add it to the next session. I’m gonna do the hour on my own separate from next session. Anyways today I completed all of the assembly, which was basic lyn the turret, the tracks, and all sorts of fussy little bits on the hull… Basic construction completed in seven hours! so for my free floating hour I’ll sand those putty spots on the turret, and get the whole thing coated with some Ammo One Shot primer. That will leave my next four hour session free to do regular painting and markings.
