  1. No I havent tried that, but I do use it to line the inside of my paint booth, Just change it out ever so often. Keeps it in decent condition. -Rudy
  2. thank you sir! I must have not used the correct wording or something, as I google searched and got decals for vampires from everywhere BUT Rhodesia.... Thank You!!! - Rudy
  3. Hello al! Hope everyone had a great holiday. I am unsure if this is the best place to post this, but I am looking for decals to build a 1:48 Dehavilland Vampire in Rhodesian Air Force livery, as used in "operation dingo" in (iirc) the late 1970's..... I have seen some others for C-47's and the two civilian airliners taken down by the terrorists, but that's about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Rudy
  4. Thanks Bryan, I will heed your Warning and try it on a couple lesser-important model projects before I try it on an important project. Definitely makes sense to me. Better safe than sorry! Rudy
  5. You do excellent work Bryan, I hope to get to your level one day..... I'm only on my second tank currently. But I tried all sorts of new techniques on the first one I had never tried, it came out ok for a first attempt.... RUDY
  6. Never hurts to try new techniques! Some work, some don't, you'll never know if you don't try..... Tank looks great! Rudy
  7. Looks Great Gil! I've got to get some more Panzer Dunkelgelb 1943 paint tonight so I can finish mine! My only thought/criticism would be to paint the road wheels a more dark greyish (like chalky-old rubber) or brownish than the black. They seem to appear too new compared to the rest of the heavily weathered tank. but what do I know, they could have been freshly added!? The tank looks great tho! I hope my Tiger 1 nearing completion looks half as good! I agree, all those damn road wheels are a nightmare to paint! Rudy
  8. Wow excellent work. I'm impressed. I'm looking forward to trying the hairspray technique on my next build, or maybe even my current one! That tank is perfect. Looks like it's fresh out of 1943!! Rudy
  9. I apologize for the duplicate post, moderator please erase one? I did not see a way to do it, only to edit.... Thank You, Rudy

    P-40 N

Hi guys! New member here, I just finished up this older AMT/ERTL P-40 N I scored not too long ago in a package deal with 3 other planes for $45. It is a low parts count model, but I had fun with it. This was my first attempt at any sort of "weathering" on an aircraft. I wish it was an earlier AVG Flying Tigers P-40, but I still enjoyed the build, and got to test out my new airbrush. Thanks for looking! I still need to paint the wing lights red/green, and find some thread or something to use as antenna wire. All of the pictures I found were not clear enough to see where exactly it attached to the tail rudder as well, the earlier models (C, D, etc) seemed to attach to the sides, whereas it looks like Maybe(?) the N-model attached to the leading edge of the tail rudder. (Not sure if that is the correct term, or if it is called the "vertical stabilizer?") I FINALLY got an airbrush that didn't give me problems, a Badger Patriot 105, and couldn't be happier with it. I painted the model with Model Master Enamels, I believe the colors are "Sand Armor" and "underside blue" or something to that effect. Another thing that looks kind of odd, is that the rear canopy seems to stick too far to the rear. (starts to cover USAAF roundels) The included rear part of the canopy was too thick to even fit into place, over the "spine" of the aircraft. Luckily it was a bonus pack that had a squadron vac-u-canopy included. Was my first time working with one of those as well. I hope you enjoy, I had alot of fun building this relatively low-parts count older model. Please excuse the photos, due to the level of my spinal cord injury, (paralyzed from about from the nipples down) I cannot actually outstretch both arms at the same time without "falling over". So it is hard as hell to hold the plane out and take a pic of it at the same time without a bunch of crap in the background, when it is one that doesn't have a landing gear down.... Thanks!! Rudy

  12. Thanks Gil!! I posted it in the dio section last night. Thanks again for the warm welcome, everyone :) Rudy
  13. Hello everyone, I'm a new member, and this was my very first attempt at a diorama. I built it in memory of my uncle's late father who served in Korea in the field artillery. I had a hard time finding authentic Korean era uniforms, but these figures from verlinden were excellent. These were also my very first figures, and I have a ways to go on painting them. I also kind of guessed as to where to tie the lanyard to fire the weapon, and I fixed the "sag" in the lanyard after I took these pics as well. I will post some pics when I get on an actual computer, but I hope it's ok to post this link for now. Thank you! Rudy http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/19/t/170364.aspx
  14. I hope it is ok to post links to another forum? Just trying to save myself from having to post a billion pictures. This is my very first Diorama I recently made as a Tribute to my Uncle Tim's Late Father who served in Korea. I had a hard time finding figures with the correct uniforms, and this was also my first time painting or working with figures. It is an area I need to work on for sure, but I don't think it came out too bad for a first attempt. I really enjoyed it. The Verlinden figures were excellent. I was bummed to see them closing up shop. If its not ok to post links to other forums, I apologize. Thank You for the warm welcome! Thanks! 15. Good Morning Bob! I almost forgot about that show. I have never yet attended. I think I will try to go on Sunday. I am easy to spot, look for the young-ish guy in a wheelchair with red and black spokes..... Oh wait, there is a picture of me in my avatar ^, haha. I will see you there! Rudy
  16. Hi Bob! I figured if I were to get involved with IPMS, livionia would likely be the Local group I would possibly join. I work In Detroit, so it is kind of in the middle between work and home. Doh, I see I just missed the monthly meeting. Oh well, I would not have been able to attend anyway due to prior commitments, voting, etc. I look forward to doing my damndest to stop in next month, if you are extending the invite? I'll bring something I am working on or have recently finished. Like Most people, I built a lot around 9 or 10 years old, mostly muscle cars, a few aircraft. Then I chased girls for many years, until I sustained a spinal cord injury in 2003. Then I built around 20 or so (Mostly mopar) Muscle cars, a few trucks and Hot rods. Then I took another Hiatus until about 3 or so years ago, when I got back in the game by building a 1:48 B-17G. About 2 years ago I got more serious, and have been building pretty steady ever since. I usually have 3 active projects, to always have something to work on while glue or paint dries, etc., but right now I have 6 or 7 active projects! I have 3 or 4 nearing completion though, where I plan to keep it to maybe 1 or two projects to get them done faster and not lose parts! I look forward to meeting with you soon Bob! at the Downriver model car club, I am the only one (out of about 50 or 60 people who show up) who builds military stuff! Or at least who brings anything. But I HAVE gotten a few good deals due to that fact when people come across stuff! We have some talented guys in that group, like H. Helzer, he's quite a builder. I am nowhere close to where I aim to be builder-wise, but I am actively trying to improve, and trying new techniques every time. Take Care! Rudy
  17. Thanks Mark, Robert and Chuck! I haven't looked around enough yet to have any questions, but I'm sure I will soon. I'm from Livingston County. I am also a member of the Downriver Model Car Club that meets the third Friday of each month at the Dearborn Ice Rink in Dearborn. I seem to be building cars and trucks less than everything else at the moment, but I am finishing up a 1:24 25? 1978 Ford F-250 Pickup truck. The next vehicles I build will be weathered, rusty. I have yet to try it, but I look forward to it! Nice shiny paint is a real PITA! I'm really wanting to build a VW that looks rusty, maybe some trucks that are muddy or dirty beaters. Pinterest is the devil when it comes to pictures of models, dioramas and ideas! Rudy
  18. New member from Michigan, I'm a 35 year old T-4 paraplegic who builds 1:48 aircraft, 1:24/25 cars and trucks, and recently started building 1:35 Armor. I've built 1 Panzer V, and I am working on a Tamiya Tiger 1 mid production. I also completed my first diorama over the summer, a Korean era field artillery scene in memory of my uncles late father. I really enjoy building as much as possible in the last year or so, and look forward to posting pics and talking with and or meeting people of similar interests. Rudy
