  1. Working on a set of Modelkasten T-55 tracks while watching Duck Dynasty...quack!

  2. I have created a new topic for proud papas and mammas to post photos of their kid's model projects. Feel free to share the best (and worst) models your offspring have built. We want only constructive comments posted there and keep in mind that the kiddies will probably be viewing these photos, so keep it upbeat and nurturing....you know you can. New moderator-at-large Chris Martens had this brilliant idea as a way to encourage our younger members (and non-members). I look forward to seeing what your kids build..... Dennis
  3. Outstanding, Phil. Thanks for sharing with us East Coasters who can't make the trip...
  4. Don't forget Scott Hards' Hobby Link Japan!
  5. Perhaps the earlier version of the forum software had this flaw, I can't say. I came aboard after we had upgraded to the new forum software.
  6. I have heard from more than a few folks that they believe forum administrators have access to private messages sent between forum members. I want to go on record here as saying this is not true. We cannot read PMs between members and wouldn't if we could. PMs are emails sent within a closed system and, as far as I'm concerned, should be treated as private conversations between the members involved. While I can't vouch for whether the government can read them or not , I can state with confidence that no one involved in the running of these forums can access your messages. This is also why forum rules prohibit quoting from PMs without permission from the author. They are private. So, feel free to use the PM feature without fear of your thoughts and words being monitored. I hope this puts an end to this misconception, Dennis
  7. Just wanted to make everyone aware that I've created a new topic for buying and selling model kits and supplies. Because this is viewable by all, I hope vendors will take notice and begin to post specials here for the benefit of all. The buy/sell topic viewable by IPMS/USA members is still up and running and exclusively for our paid membership. Enjoy.
  8. Just wanted to let everyone know that I've added a new forum moderator-at-large to the crew, Chris Martens. Chris is a relatively new member of IPMS/USA and will hopefully bring some new ideas and enthusiasm to the forum. Please join me in welcoming Chris to his new role. Dennis
  9. Rick, Truly a modern conundrum. I suggest you "Google" it on the inter webs...ha!
  10. Not sure if you noticed, but we were hit with a bunch of spam posts on the forum today (8.9.2013). The poster registered the day before using a real name and email address just like everyone else. I had no inkling that he was anything other than a new member from the general public. Turns out that ".ca" in his email address wasn't from Canada. It was from China, home of Dragon, Bronco and, of course, spam...lots of spam. So, unfortunately for Chinese modelers, from now on, I'll not allow any new members to join our forum with a ".ca" email address. If you missed reading these posts, you lost the opportunity to purchase fake IDs and passports. Sorry for any inconvenience! Thought you'd like to know.... Dennis p.s. they must really be desperate for our 1600 members to see their crap!
  11. Just a note to let you know that I have revised the forum rules and the new version is available for viewing by clicking the link at the bottom of the page. No major changes, mind you, just some clarifications and some editing to put us in line with other Web sites on the Internet. If you have a question, please post it here or send me an email.
  12. I personally enjoy the books that dissect a battle and provide a lot of photos to go with it. The Duel in the Mist two-book series is one example.
  13. This is my build of the AFV Club kit with some Verlinden shell casings and Scenic Express buffalo grass to make the base more interesting. The kit was a bit fiddly but builds into a nice model of the real thing. It was the first time I attempted the hairspray technique with a winter whitewash scheme.
  14. The one near me also stocks a full inventory of Citadel and Vallejo paints! I also spend way too much money there.
  15. I left off the antenna for the photos. Not to worry, it'll have the correct antenna when you see it next! ha! Then you can have Joe bend it!
  16. It's the Tamiya kit built pretty much OOB. I used my new Renegade Krome airbrush I bought last year. Love the control it gave me when painting the camo scheme. This is a great kit and a fairly uncomplicated build.
  17. Yep, once you link photos, any moving or renaming will break the link, requiring you to re-link in order for the photos to appear again.
  18. Priming my Pak 40 and adding tracks to my Panzer II today...

  19. Kevin, Another thing to try is your trusty cell phone. I use mine to shoot pics at contests, etc. when I don't want to lug around my larger DSLR camera. Most cell phone cameras will allow you to focus close enough to produce fairly decent macro shots. Just remember to hold the camera steady or, better yet, invest in a mini tripod from photojojo.com (they have several models made especially for holding cell phones.) Here's an example of what a cell phone camera can do: So, give your cell phone a try. You never know, your phone might be able to produce decent photos, saving you some money and, having a son in college studying ancient greek also, I know how important that can be. Good luck, Dennis
  20. Nice job! It does look like a fiddly project.
  21. Federico, Any folding instructions? I'm not too good at origami... :m1helmet:
  22. In the last few weeks I've added folks from Portugal, Greece and Britain to our forum.
