About Me

I am retired after 38 years of service in the US Army/US Army Reserve and 22 years as Military Technician in the Army Reserve. I was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant of Armor out of ROTC at Tennessee Tech in 1975. On active duty I served as a a tank platoon leader (M60A1), scout platoon leader (M113), company XO (M60A1), cavalry squadron S-4 and tank battalion S-4; company commander of a combat support company (scouts, mortars & MANPADS) and tank company commander (M60A3), and battalion S-2/3, finishing with NTC Ground Liaison Officer attached to the USAF. While on active duty I was stationed at Fort Polk, LA, Fulda/Frankfurt/Baumholder, West Germany and finally at Ft, Irwin/George AFB, CA. In the Army Reserve I performed duties as plans officer, operations officer, military intelligence staff officer, commo officer, chemical battalion commander, deputy commander/garrison support unit, chemical officer and S-2 for a medical brigade. Additionally, I was mobilized for two years at Joint Forces Command as Deployment Officer and Land Operations Officer with a tour in Iraq. I was recalled to active duty in 2011 -2013 assigned to TRADOC G-2 Intelligence Support Activity with duty at Brigade Modernization Command, Ft. Bliss, TX as the Operational Threat Support Officer. As a reservist I served in Nashville, TN; Ft. Campbell, KY; Redstone Arsenal, AL; Ft. Benning, GA; Norfolk, VA with duty in Germany and Iraq; The Western Missile Test Range. Kuhai, H, Schofield Barracks, HI, and Ft. Bliss, TX.

I started building models as a teenager with an interruption for college and military service. I have become much more active since retiring in December 2013. My building has crossed most all disciplines but has become more focused recently with emphasis on military vehicles (and variants) that I have operated, 'tween wars' aircraft, esoteric military vehicles, American Civil War ironclads and other historic naval vessels. I build in injected plastic, resin and vacform.

In addition to building models, renovating my house, tending the garden and playing with my grandsons, I am a volunteer at the Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, TN where I assist military units and ROTC programs with staff rides and give battlefield tours to civilians.
