  1. I'm finding it very hard to justify buying a new Dragon armor kit when it comes out when I see Sprue Brothers selling Dragon armot kits at half off or more and these are recently released ones too. I might as well waiting a couple of months to see if the new kit will be 50% off at Sprue Brothers. One of my local hobby shops must have connected with the same source as they had a few kits the same price Sprue Brothers is offering.

I'm also finding it hard to buy a new Dragon German armor kit that should have zimmerit, is released without it then 6 months later is released with molded on zimmerit.

  2. I went on a shopping trip to find one of these BSG Colonial Viper Mark II kits today. Not one LHS in a 15 mile radius has one. They are not expected before summer around here. I'm ready for it NOW!

    Ed,

I've seen the kit at Al's and Ad-Venture recently. I know they are beyond the 15 mile radius but still in the area.

Although I agree with your point on the track color, maybe you could have offered some constructive criticism besides just pointing out a negative issue with the paint color. The reviewer appears to be a newer modeler, so let's help him out.

You have a point. Yet the review does reference "So checking on modeling forums the answer and reason became apparent." Asking in these forums if the instructions calling out steel as a color of the track being correct or just even looking at other built up models and seeing what color the tracks are painted.

  4. He had a unique way of criticizing without biting the hand that feeds you. He was able to point out the pluses and minuses of the kit without being negative. He could kill a kit with a review, especially if there was a competing kit of better quality.

I think he bought most of the kits he reviewed. You're right about killing a kit. His site was the first place I'd look for a kit review that was unbiased. Plus his built up kits looked very well done compared to other sites that have poor looking built models in the review section.

  5. OK,

Has anyone tried this and had it look good? Is there any products out that address this issue? I built my Merkava and used table salt. Way too thick. My next attempt will be Model Master Liquid Glue and baking soda. Next Years Seattle's contest has a "MODELFY" and they chose the Merkava as their base vehicle. I have my ideas and this is just too good to pass up. I got my Academy Merkava II and know there is no texture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've hand painted in Mr Surfacer 500 then stippled it with a cut down Testors paintbrush. I did small sections at a time. I've also had one sucess spraying Mr. Surfacer on a Tamiya Challenger II through my gravity feed airbrush. The Mr. Surfacer drys some as it's sprayed so you get a rough texture. But the next time I tried it didn't work as well so I've written the first sucess as beginers luck. I've also used on a Merkava III baking soda sprinkled on Future. This also was done a section at a time.
