  1. nah... why do you think I was hoping they'd pull over?!
  2. A note to everybody driving in from east of Omaha: I-29 is still closed! I-80 is open but a trucker friend says it jammed with all the diversion traffic. Coming up from Oklahoma and Texas, he recommended going north on I-135 to Salina then north on US81 to I-80... he says less traffic than US75 from Manhattan to Lincoln, plus US81 is 4-lane "most of the way". (I thought it was all of the way, but there might be construction) Check with Iowa Dept of Trans and Nebraska Dept of Roads before you leave to find the best route. http://www.iowadot.gov/floods/index.html http://www.dor.state.ne.us/flood/ I'm flying in Wed afternoon, and Eppley is still opened. A local club member works in the HQ bldg at Delta and says they have contingency plans to land in Lincoln and bus people to Omaha if the river flooding affects the airport there. Don't know about other airlines, but they are probably planning the same workarounds.
  3. well, if they wouldn't ship weapons of mass distraction down the road....
  4. I was driving home from New Orleans last week. About the time I hit the LA/MS bvorder, I spotted a trialer with what could only be the fueslage and engines of an A-10 about 2 miles ahead on the hump of the brdige. I went as fast as I dared, and luckily I was in the middle of the BullRun road rally and got passed by many really nice cars. I caught up about 5 miles later and it took another 5 to pass both trucks. Here are the photos http://aaahobby.com/images/A-10/IMAG0424.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0425.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0426.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0427.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0428.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0429.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0430.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0431.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0432.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0433.jpg http://aaahobby.com/...10/IMAG0434.jpg No0t the best in the world, as I had to use my phone. I dropped off the next exit to get back behind them hoping they would need a pit stop before our paths split so I could get photos in hi-rez with the real camera. Followed them all the way thru downtown Mobile until I had to turn onto I-165 to head to Atlanta. The trucks had mid-Georgia business names, so maybe they are headed to the museum at Warner Robins. Maybe these pics will be of use to somebody.
  5. If we did, would it be allowed? (per your tag line!) I do ocassionally shoot in RAW format, but just about only when Chris has asked me to do so for the Journal. I know it is more data intensive and yields a better photo (in theory) but how much better is it really over the usual megapixel rez? Never gave it much thought really.
  6. 2005 was hosted by IPMS Metro Atlanta Inc, a combination of three metro area clubs: Atlanta, Marietta and Northmen (alphabetical order) 1993 has Don Harris running things, and I think in 1984 it was W. B. Baldwin's turn
  7. Other than that, it's out of the box - right?
  8. I use Gunze, Tamiya, Vallejo and Polly Scale and haven't had a problem with their paints after shaking the bottles. If you're using Testors Acryl, all bets are off. That stuff was so bad I couldn't sell it and killed the rack in favor of WEM paints about 5 years ago. Testor - if you can't make a superior product than your competitors, buy them out and kill the line! (Floquil Military and Polly Scale)
  9. Is there a bio page for the candidates online yet? I couldn't find it.... not there is much choice to be had
  10. My first thought was how easy would it to be to blue-screen the video to use it for effects in home video ... for guys that can't do CGI anyway
  11. Sorry for the bad news, but a lack of vendor sales has not allowed us to meet an interim payment date and we have been forced to cancel our June show. Vendor sales are slow as the common answer I got about paying now was "If gas is really going to be $5/gal after Memorial Day we can't afford to come" I hope we can get a show together for next year, but that all depends on the economy.
  12. If you're thinking about donating something, the 503©(7) club designation does not allow for the deduction of most things according to our accountant. Ipms Metro Atlanta was incorporated under this chapter back in 2003 for our 2005 show and we've kept it active out of convenience to run our local show. As an official non-profit we get price & tax breaks on stuff.

  14. If you cant see it, it doesn’t count?? I thought models were 3d objects that had to be as accurate as possible. Wnd mounting to a base or adding dirt was just a way to hide flaws. My how things have changed!
  15. Gil, as a judge: how would you react upon seeing a parttial wheel inside the spat? Is that equivalent to some of the other sins we are cautioned against at the judges briefing? Great technique, but I just wonder how the judges will view it. same goes for cars....
  16. As the guy who started the list on the website, I began my list with Walt Fink's list and had to cut about 2/3 of that listing out as the shops had closed. I also used lists given to me by by wholesalers I had access to, weeding out the ones that did not do plastic models took some time and a lot of phone calls. Updating the list is a pain, as when a shop opens or closes we have to wait for word to come to us!
  17. Is there an easy answer as to why the two/three sides (of our site) aren't interlinked, interlaced or whatever it's called?
  18. Now if only all the events in the "upcoming events" page could be autolinked somehow onto the calendar. It might be easier to load them into the calendar and have that page generated as a report, I don't know. I tried to add our meeting, on the second saturday of each month, but just like almost every other calendar I've ever seen it cannot figure out how to do that. Palm had one that would allow a recurring event set for any variable number of days (every fifth day to feed a snake) or based on the week (second week) ... but it disappeared a few years ago when the pad did an update to a new version! BTW, it took about 5 seconds for the reply page to load. Like Eric said, about the same as before.
  19. Which is why there are fewer and fewer shops. it'll be a sad day when you have to order the paint and glue from the Kiwis, too OTOH, the new 1/32 Revell-Germany Ar 196 looks great on Hyperscale and it's US SRP is $41 ... Trumpeter needs to take notes from them.

    Uglyist Airplane

Do you mean this one? In 1893, Horatio Phillips tested this unmanned "venetian blind" aircraft tethered to a circular track. The back wheels rose 2 to 3 feet above the ground, but the front wheels did not lift off. If at first you don't succeed...Horatio Philips tried again in 1904 gas-powered multi-wing machine. It hopped briefly, but the wings collapsed before it achieved true flight. http://www.wright-brothers.org/History_Win...04_Phillips.jpg

Transavia PL-12 Airtruk... hands down I happen to have a 1/32 red one in my case at AAA right now, too. Built by Dr Frank Mitchell. (scratch built, that is)
