  10. Hi guys! Here I share with you my first attempt with a 1/6 bust that I grab from Last Cavalry at Ipms Nationals (thanks Dave!) its the Baron Manfred Von Richthofen, or the Red Baron! I started cleaning the figure with soap to remove all the molding grease, then after dry, a coat of tamiya thin primer was given. From there I use Vallejo colors for the base color. A few weeks later I decided to stop ignoring it and try to paint a face!, 1 and half hour later the result. (Still missing eyebrows, eyelashes omitted by mistake. ) eyes are not wonderful, but for a first time I guess they are ok.

Clever idea to put the piece in a picture frame.
  12. And here it is my little "Frog" at the Ipms Virginia Nationals.
  13. Hi Fellas! Our club in Puerto Rico (Borinqueneers) started a workshop of 1-2 meetings to complete a model select by us. For this first time we decided the 1:48 Tamiya BA-64B. This is a light armored vehicle used by the russian during WWII and later by other countries up to the 60s!
  14. Thank you Neal!, Sure I did, I clean it up and used perfect plastic putty to correct to fill all the seam lines. Also drill the machine guns and sanded the gun barrel too. I got you news too, Dust and Tactics was sold between 2012-2013 and the new owners are starting to offer this as a unarmed kits. check it out! http://www.unitforward.com/news/unassembled-model-kits-direct-from-dust-studio/
  15. Thank you!!!, well the model is kind of dark in colors , without a base and figure does not say much. I'm still working on the figures and base, so stay tune for more. :gold-plane:

  20. You are talking about Dave Youngquist owner of Last Cavalry, on his website you can find his latest videos on painting figures. You can also make a search for painting, miniatures or faces on our website to found great tutorials about the theme. http://www.ipmsborinqueneers.com/apps/videos/ Good luck with your figures!
  21. Hi Chris: Well, not as I expected, not even a single award!!! but that's ok, this is a competition and you need to go with both expectations. My kids also have a great success, they bring 4 awards!, so the other kids, for a total of 8. So we are thinking to change our name to Ipms Borinqueneers JUNIOR!! :D . Also for the next time I will bring less kits, its really hard and costly to bring it to the states. We pay $600 for a bulk box to bring the kits from Puerto Rico to Virginia. We also saw some fishy stuff going on in the competition with some categories, but you know what? you just look at the results list of awards and you will find out. So No biggie, for me just saying. Hope next group take note on that to avoid it. On the bright side, I took many pictures of great works this year, have some beers with Chris Mrosko, writer of the book Building Dioramas, stretch hands with WWII veteran Bill Greenwell from the "Feather Merchant", Master modeler Ricardo Rivas, Tony Rivera,Frank Stansell and found the first 3 items of my top list! Meng 1/35 D9r Bulldozer, Meng 1.35 Latest Pickup, and the book Airplanes In Scale, the greatest guide.
  22. This was taken at the Ipms Virginia Nationals.
