  1. Very cool - Thanks for posting!
  2. I've also found that a new x-acto blade works best for me. I also use a very hard surface to make the cuts on. I found that if I used my cutting mat, I would end up with a bend in the part. I have been using a scrap piece of glass to make cuts on. (Not sure how to describe the glass, but I picked it up from a fellow in our modeling club. It is about 3" x 5" and about 1/2" thick - it was made for some purpose, as the edges are rounded) Since I have been cutting on the glass the only thing I need to worry about is having the parts "fly" after being cut. If I use a small piece of tape - that solves that issue too!

Nice work Greag - thanks for sharing!
  4. I honestly cannot answer your question, but I HAVE found that there are often the same exact paint matches sold under different names by the same company....
  5. Welcome aboard William! There is a great deal of knowledge here on the forums. Pick a topic you'd like some advice on, and post to the proper area - I am sure you will come away with some great tips!
  6. Nice work with an older kit. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Welcome back William - glad you're here!
  8. Welcome to the forums Ernest!
  9. I agree Gil, The one I had going for last year (and have yet to finish) was the Revell 1/72 Ki-21 "Sally". I found that to be a nice little kit that was way ahead of the others of the day.
  10. I think many of my 2011 projects will be ones from pervious years that I have fallen through the cracks, or have ended up in the pile of shame...
  11. Nice work James - Thanks for sharing!
  12. Thanks Kevin, I have yet to find a image of one, but I think the original box would have had the kit as 1/50 like the Pete and Myrt did. No worries if I can't find something more definate - I DID see that the date 1972 was stamped on one of the sprues (up at the top where the Tamiya logo is). I wanted to get back into my lost habit of trying to build at least one "vintage" kit every year... Happy New Year to all! Tim
  13. Thanks James! Gents - I too was surprised that the kit was that old. I knew it was over 30, but I didn't think it was pushing 40!
  14. Hey everyone, I'm going through my stash looking for a quick build for the upcoming year. Does anyone know when the Tamiya 1/48 Ki-84 Frank was first released? I can find no date on the box, or the directions, and I recently got rid of my old Tamiya cataloges. Thanks for your time! Tim
  15. Don't get me wrong - there are many things listed that are way too expensive. But if you look around a do the proper searches - you'll be able to find one at a good price. It's been my experience that there will ALWAYS be "another one" listed at some point - so don't get carried away bidding! Good Luck!
  16. Thanks for the link! I will have to try and talk myself out of this one - I really don't have the room!
  17. Nice work with an old kit - thanks for sharing!
