A 1/144 kit of a really cool British experimental Aircraft
I wanted to bring something back from Telford this Year and this kit looked really cool.
Since travelling through London baggage space is critical. Smaller is mandatory,
This was not a hard kit but there were a few curves tossed here and there. Dry-fitting and Sanding were the word of the day.
I added some details to the landing gear such as retractors and braces, using Albion alloys real small tubbing.
Kit decals were used and the were mostly very good except the red forward sections on the nose, I used some Vallejo red for touch up. Checking steady-ness of my hands.
This was a Beautiful aircraft and I am quite happy with the small version I have.
PS the Paint is much smoother than the Magnified photos reflect.
Thanks for taking a look and Comments welcome
Happy New Year

Shiny Korean War veteran
Alclad for Metal sections over Gloss Black Tamiya Decanted. Painted Yellow and Black ID Bands and nose. Older Microscale Decals used.CMK Interior was beautiful .Sorry I couldn't photo well.
Airfix Kit was highly rated but my opinion is Hobbycraft and Fujimi are better F-86 kits. Airfix was missing some basics,Upper inlet,Upper fuselage panel, Side small Vents, Under-nose lights, nose radar scribing. Most of these were added but not all. Some small issues on the wings ,so 3ft is a good viewing distance.
There is no dark area in front of gun panel, just a photo lighting issue.

As Both Bill Thaw and myself are Pittsburgh natives, I decided on one of his aircraft. For those not familiar with Mr Thaw he was one of the founding members of the Lafayette Escadrille.
This is the 1/48 Eduard Nieuport.
Kit markings for National Insignias and Thaws Markings which was the "T" and the Indian Head was provided by fellow Modeler Tim Swisher (Local Thaw expert)
Used Alclad High Speed Silver for the doping
I used Uschi Line for Rigging and Bob's buckle eyelets for attachments,Albion Alloys Turnbuckles also used.
This mount of Thaws had two guns and this is the over-wing Lewis I choose to build.

Just tossing this out. I believe there was a B-25 used as camera aircraft with that type of front turret for Camera position. Is it possible the Photo bird made the Movie??
Who knows.

This was a "Out of Box" project. This kit I will recommend as not a difficult build but loaded with nice items such as Missiles nice interior,Great Decals.
This is my first attempt at a F-14 and their interesting "wear" schemes.
Kit decals were by Cartograf and worked very well.
Paint was Vallejo for most part with Gunze used for the Cockpit exterior section. Final finish was Testors "Dull-Coat" decanted. A friend of mine with aircraft photography said dirty and flat is accurate. Most photos I found verify this.
