  1. I'll leave the Novel for some discussion. Pilot info is major hint.

Excellent result and a fabulous finish. My experience, however limited it may be, with Hobbycraft kits is that they can be kind of, well, basic and fit can be iffy. If that was the case here, you did a super job overcoming any limitations.

This F-86 was not a bad kit at all. Fit was acceptable and although a little weak in some details, overall the exterior is quite nice.

    Thanks for the feedback

SWEET!! I saw this on FB and was hoping you'd post it here too. What scale is this model? I'm guessing 1/72 simply because I'm not aware of a slatted "E" wing kit in 1/48. Gorgeous results with one of the sharpest schemes  available for a Saberjet!

    Gil:cool:

    Thanks Gil .

It is 1/72nd and a Hobbycraft kit. They do the best F-86 in that scale (in my Opinion)

I post here but it's a bit lackluster on reply or feedback.

I'll keep kicking the can down the street, who knows

This is the very nice Hobbycraft F-86 Canadair Mk 6 with slated wing. Flown by Erich Hartmann after his rejoining of  the West German Air Force. A few additions to kit, sugar scoops on fuselage sides, wine bottles seal seatbelts, scratch-built intake F.O.D. covered added a missing vent on upper port fuselage.

The model was completed with Alclad metals over gloss black Tamiya rattle can. Sealed with Alclad Aqua Gloss. Markings are from the Peddinghaus manufacturer. They are a bit of challenge to cut each decal but they work fantastic and settle down super. The clear mostly disappears over the Alclad Aqua Gloss

  5. This was mind flush built straight out of box and not concerned about inaccuracies(IE Intake shapes).

This was a very easy kit to build.I thought it was well engineered and went together quite well.

I used the IPMS National decals for the Korean War F-80. The decals were fantastic.

The model was finished in numerous shades of Alclad over Tamiya Gloss Black (rattle can decanted). The Alclad Aqua Gloss was used and worked great with the decal clear.

  6. Loved Visiting Telford This Year. SIGs, Clubs and phenomenal interactions with modelers. One thing that did strike me though, although IPMS branch's as far away as Israel were represented, No IPMS USA display.  Although it was good to see more than 1/2 dozen Americans in attendance. This was at least my 5th visit as a group from Pittsburgh tries to visit every other year. "DAM YOU COVID". Special thanks to USAF SIG who host us from Pittsburgh and treat us much better than we deserve.

  7. Completed with Basic Kit build rules of IPMS,however I could not leave the seat without  any strapping. So wine bottle seal straps it was.
This is a great little kit and the decals were absolutely fantastic.

I used the Revel Acrylic paints and they worked great. I did Gloss Coat with GX-100 for the decal base.

The anti-static wicks are a bit oversized but don't really detract from the appearance.

Uschi Powders were used for the exhaust metal finishes. Final finish was GX-100 .
