  3. Hello fellow IPMSers!

Spartanburg Scale Modelers were well represented at the Columbia nationals for 2016. Our Xhapter had 5 Juniors entered taking 7 entries! After the dust has settled our Juniors won 5 awards!.

Our adult members are so proud of our Juniors! The adults raised over $230 in IPMS Dues and registration fees. Our Chapter pays for the Juniors IPMS membership and registration fees to any Nationals conventions

Ive attached pictures of their models and The Juniors along with parents.

  4. Well let’s just do this? Close the doors go home and wait on death!!!

"We do thing that are not easy" Para phrase Jack Kennedy? Why no!? There were 34 entries among 14 Junior at this years Nats not bad considering 2100 entries and 600 entrants if the rumor mill is correct!

To be honest a junior would have to have a great desire to enter our National contest. our standards is high! and it should be. The expense has to come out of a parents pocket/ Parents like us need to see a bang for their buck Right? So music, Baseball soccer where their is a star, a ribbon placed on a child is automatically.

Our Junior don’t receive a “atta boy” just for showing up. I’ve heard parents and members say “Not even HM!?”

OK lets get a handle on this and all of yall that hate kids and don’t want IPMS to expand, Stop reading and go buy a $299 kit

Keep the Junior dues low as possible

Junior IPMS Nats the same as the dues not 20- 30 dollars

Give a savings Bond for the Best Junior at the Nats or a gift card to Hobby lobby!

Make Juniors welcome with their parents don’t expect them to create award winning model just build

Promote Junior activities in our Chapters Yes the MIT program or something?

How many of the Board members seek out and shake hands with parents and Juniors I know not many Because Our chapter had 5 Juniors and the parent that took his children and with the others models didn’t say anything about how the Board or the host chapters made the kids and parent feel special!

IPMS really isnt user friendly that’s what killing us off! Parents don’t want to get into chapter rivals, r disagreements. This stuff really is killing IPMS and the hobby!

    Thank you

This event was sponsored by the City of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Humane Society, Downtown pilots ASS. and the Spartanburg Downtown airport.

Our Chapter had 11 members 3 of which were our Juniors modelers, in attendance with 50 models ranging from aircraft, armor ships, automotive, and Sci fi spacecraft. Over 200 people attended the small;; air show and over400 people came into hanger A to talk and look at our display. The center piece was John Savko’s 1/48 PBY with melted wings from sitting in the car to long. The question of the day was “do you have a Tiger tank?” After 18 folks asked we found out people were looking for a Tiger from the movie Fury!

Our Chapter had a great day and were looking forward to next year/

  7. Well here we go!

The oringinal concept for our convention was just that The National contest was secondary for sevaral years. My first convention/contest in 91 was driven by the comtest, but when I returned in 2008 the convention part seemed to come back in focus with the business meeting being held on Saturday’s. Im disappointed that the business meeting is given the “bums rush” along with the Bidding for the Nationals!?

Can we move the Bidding day to Friday Morning? This would really help thoseChapter reps who are going to bid! Then the Business meeting on Saturday? Why not? We now give 3-4 days for the Convention and Contest. Spread things out, so we all can be involved!

Thnks to Ron and the other guys for digging through their stats These need to put in with all the other stats to assist Chapters in the futer bids.

  8. Hey Pete

OH YEAH!!! I would love to see these kits back out 35$ is a bit pricy maybe when yall get these out production kits going the cost can come down.

It would be great if the entire line can be produced again because where I grew up we didny get them all. I built 3 Shermans 2 JS3's because thats what my local drug store had!

Now bring out the Diorama 1/72 kits and Ill be the first in line!
