Nope. It was a one way street. The Tony actually had a Japanese copy of the DB601 or 603 engine. The Japanese had real trouble developing a home made inline engine.

The Japanese actually did get a 109E for evaluation. It is in standard German paints but with Japanese markings. There are lots of photos on net of it. Hellcats of the FAA faced 190s over Norway. There is at least one Hellcat with a 190 kill.

Mark, Might I recommend that if you want to build a 48th P-40, you reconsider your kit choice. The Hobbycraft kit can be a challenge from what I have heard. If you want to do a 48th P-40B you can go Trumpy and if you want to do a P-40E you could go with Hasegawa. Just my 2 cents.

I was hoping to see this one finished. That is beautiful. A great job with an older kit.

I love this tool. I use Tenax for most of my larger gluing jobs. If the tip gets clogged, put it in a bottle of Tenax and blow GENTLY into the tube. It will clear the clog.

Frank, Might I humbly suggest a different approach? Pick a kit of recent vintage (Say, released in the last five years) from a major manufacturer. Make it something that is outside of your normal building area. Try to pick a simple kit without too many parts. (Subs and AT/AA guns work for me) and build it out of the box. From personal experience, I can tell you this is the cure for AMS or the modeling funk.

I've got Nitrile gloves, but they don't breathe, so my hands sweat. I am hoping the manufacturer will sell the Tamiya type gloves directly.

Our club has also been kicking around the idea of a "modeling podcast". I can't wait to see what this is like.

Interior is RAF interior green. I think Tamiya has that color. Exterior topside is RAF Brown and RAF Dark Green. Underside can vary depending on timeframe. I think you can get all your colors out of the Tamiya line.

James, Thanks for the input. The gloves you mention appear to be nitrile gloves. These are better than latex, but you still perspire under them. I am sure that Tamiya isn't having their gloves specially made. They have to be some sort of industrially manufactured cl;ean room glove. I just can't figure out what they are made of. It isn't nitrile and it isn't latex. You can get the Tamiya gloves directly from the Tamiya USA website for .99 a pair, but they have to be cheaper than that in bulk from the actual manufacturer. The only downside to the Tamiya gloves is that they seem to breakdown with age, as opposed to nitrile or latex.

Does anyone know what these are made of? They appear to be the type of gloves used in "clean rooms" in electronic assembly. There big advantage is that you perspire thru them. I'd like to find another source for them, if I can figure out what they are made of.

Luckily the Eduard masks are pretty cheap, I just get another.
