  2. Mark, Concerning your silvering decals, try brushing on Future Floor Wax directly onto the model where the decal goes then while it's still wet, apply the decal and then gently remove the excess. I just learned this and works well. Tim

  4. Mike, thanks for the info. I'll look for it at the next contest I go to. John, I'm not sure which aircraft/squadron I want to do. Let me do more research & I'll get back with ya. I looked thru my decals and nothing!! I do have a good supply of codes though.
  5. I'm reading "The Few" by Alex Kershaw about American pilots flying for the RAF during the Battle for Britain. Might anyone know of decals for 609 Squadron and 71 "Eagle" Squadron in 1/72nd? I've searched both Squadron & Great Models without success. Thanks,
  6. Thanks guys. My RF-4C had the red (very faded & dirty) inside the speed brakes, flaps & leading edge flaps, AUX air doors etc. but not on the doors. But hey she was 20 when I crewed her. I didn't think that red was painted on the faying surface. Thanks for the info & guideance.
  7. OK I'm a bit stoopid, but that's alright. I know that semi-modern USN/USMC aircraft (F-4, A-4 time frame) had the edges of their gear doors painted red to show us stoopid crew chiefs where not to grab. Were the areas of the wheel well where the doors touched the airframe painted red as well? Thanks,
  8. IrsaDecals has a set #IAF-35 that will work, so I'm ordering those. Don't tell my wife
  9. Most Air Force weapons are FS 36375 Light Ghost Grey. Hope this helps.
  10. I'm working on a 1/72nd Fujimi F-4E that is in Royal Australian Air Force markings (NovaScale decals) and need stencils for it. I have the old MicroScale #72-164 Phantom Data. Might anyone know of another decal sheet that has more and better stencils? Thanks,
  11. Clare, Yes, I intend to attach the kit permanently to the base, so the museum can move it as required and not have to worry about it falling off. Tim
  12. Hi guys, First of all, I'm very glad that the Forum is back up. Well done Uncle Bob. Now for my question. I'm working on the 1/48th Tamiya F4U-1d for a museum in NC and it's almost finished. I'm going to attach it to the great Nautilus Models real wooden deck sections. Any ideas on how I can attach the model to the painted wooden base and secure it properly? I think that superglue won't hold it. I was thinking about drilling holes in the base and using very thin wire to secure it to the base, but that might look dorked up for a permanent display. Any ideas? Thanks,
