  1. SORRY DUDE, ANOTHER STRIKE! A very good foreign film though, enjoyed that one!!
  2. You did, and indeed, the soundtrack his terrific! My belief is it was renamed to be more "marketable" and catch the eye of shoppers, and BlockBuster clients, nothing more complicated than that. It's a great film, and I think it would be enjoyed by just about all IPMS members! On your guess.......a STRIKE!! I'll give up a clue for that, the film was a sensation, still extremely popular today, and is very "bizarre" to say the least! It has full "Cult" status, and I suspect you'll guess it in a short while. It has great actors, and a plot that twists your mind up real tight! A personal fav of mine, and I've watched it many times, as it's rather complex in nature. A "Filme Noire" if I ever saw one.......... This is a true SF Classic, very advanced for time it was created and released, some serious innovations that have come to life in our time, are shown here, HG Wells had a fantastic mind!
  3. OK PLAYERS, OUR NEXT IMAGE POSTED BELOW, NO CLUES GIVEN YET! LET THE GAMES BEGIN! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
  4. Your correct Mike D, the original title of the Film was "Riders of the Storm", but it was re-released with a new title, why? I have no idea? More continues tomorrow!
  5. OK PLAYERS, THE IMAGE REVEALED!! THE FILM IS CALLED "THE AMERICAN WAY" AND STARS, DENNIS HOPPER! A FILM ABOUT VIETNAM WAR ERA VETS, FLYING CONSTANLTY, 24/7, IN A CUSTOMIZED B-29 BOMBER, THAT HAS "PSY-OPS" TRANSMITTERS, USED TO BRAINWASH THE POPULATION, ALONG WITH A PIRATE BROADCASTING STUDIO ABOARD, THAT INTERRUPTS REGULAR TV WITH THEIR POLICAL DISCOURSES!! TRULY A "ONE OF A KIND" PLOT, AND A DARN GOOD FILM, LOOK IT UP FOR A SYNOPSIS, IT'S REALLY TOO HARD TO DESCRIBE FULLY HERE. THIS IS PART OF THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF THE OPENING SCENE, THE FELLOW WHO IS DANCING ON THE HUGE BOMB, IS ONE OF THE CREW, AND HIS BURN MARKS, AND VIDEO OF VIETNAM ATROCITIES, PLAYING ON A LARGE MONITOR IN THE BACKGROUND, CREATE DUAL DISTURBING IMAGES!! DISCOVERED THIS ONE MANY YEARS AGO, VERY, VERY BIZARRE! A NEW IMAGE TOMORROW, GOT "FAMILY" THINGS TO ATTEND TO, UNTIL THEN, SAYONARA....... STILL AVAILABLE!!
  6. OH MY GOD!!!!!!......NAH, JUST KIDDIN', ..................STRIKE!!! JEEZ, YOUR DREDGING UP SOME REAL CRAPOLA HERE MIKE.................. NO TALENT EITHER!!! HAHAHA!!!
  7. Yep, a STRIKE!! I can stump, even you, if I set my sights on doing so, but good tries Dude! When I reveal it, in about an hour, you'll probably not have heard of the film, but it is a "Cult" status film, with a very big star, so you'll know the depth of how "obscure" I can reach. Still a little time left...anyone else want to give it a shot? Y'a never know, unless you try......... She's kinda' hot for a toaster!!
  8. FAR OUT MAN!! THE RESEMBLANCE IS AMAZING!! VERY COOL MIKE!!
  9. OK, one last clue on this image, I'll make it a good one, there is a Vietnam War era connection to this film, that's it players! See you at 5pm, Eastern Standard Time, Endgame, unless someone gets real clever............
  10. "HORRORISH"?????? IS THAT A WORD??? Chill Mike, that's a STRIKE MR. CORLEY!!! Although I thought it was a rather good plot, poorly executed perhaps, the giant Head was kinda' cool, but the acting was second rate. When I say "Obscure", I mean it, you have until 5pm today to guess this one, or it's a "Stumper" in favor of the Smurfenstein! ....horrorish.....hahahaha!!! "WHAT, NO BURGER KINGS IN THIS POST-NUCLEAR STINKHOLE?"
  11. ..............a STRIKE! Oh Stats-keeper..............
  12. MMM....she was hot!! A weird little attempt at SF, by using a Playmate.....who met tragic consequences. B movie quality, and I'm being kind. Unfortunately, your second STRIKE Mike, told you this one was difficult. I've kept the really "Obscure Ones" in my vault....until now.
  13. One of the "great films" in the SF lineage, one of the last big budget films to use "All Prop Models", before CG took over, released in 1979, and truly, really, frakkin' scary!!! Unfortunately.....a STRIKE!! GOTTA' BE STRAIGHT WITH YOU GUYS, THE ODDS OF SOMEONE GUESSING THIS ONE IS NOT GOOD, MIKE D HAS PUSHED THE LIMITS OF THE GAME! Not really Mike's fault either, he's just really, really, good at the game.
  14. Very astute Jcorley, process of elimination does act as a clue, well said! However.......a STRIKE! Great Film! Been brought up before, and the Landmaster is an SF favorite, cool vehicle! OK, a few guesses, a clue, the Film, although not well-known, has a "Cult" status, amongst hard-core SF/Fantasy film lovers.
  15. Nice try wonder-boy, but a.....STRIKE!!! I'd have to agree, truly an awful flick, how Max Von Sydow was ever talked into being Emperor Ming in that piece of fecal matter, is truly a mystery! Watched it once, that was enough, only good thing, the Queen soundtrack..........
  16. Thinking out loud is fine Mike, gives a bit of your wisdom to the other players, I will not confirm or deny your observations at this time, your too darn good at this game Dude!! I think you'd make an excellent "Guest Star Host" for a 10 image round, do consider it if you win! If you don't, well, there will be changes to the game, like a time limit of 3 days to guess, per image.......... Higher stakes, will mean a much stricter control of your powers of observation, as well as a couple of other players, who show abilities at getting these pinned down! Please continue my Valiant Video Combatants!!
  17. Oh, and I wanted to add a "Bonus Prize" addition to the winner of this round! Not only does the reigning Champion get the model kit prize, they also have the option of "Hosting" the game, for a 10 round guessing bout! The Champion can test us all, for another 10 round, Image obscuring contest, with a prize or not! This is not a "must", Champion can decline, and I will keep going, with another batch of 20 images in the next round, and a prize! However, I will be using stills from my "personal" collection of Films around the world, and it isn't going to be "easy" as this first round. Mike D, has "raised the bar" for complexity of subject matter, and I must make it more difficult, much more difficult.......... I am "butt-deep" in work right now, and it would be nice for another member, to take over briefly for me, especially one who shows an incredible gift at the game, (hint,hint).......... Just an option to give me a "Li'l Break" and to see what this Champion can come up with! If declined, no worries, I will find the time to continue this, soon to be #1 Thread, on the IPMS Forum!! Who would have believed this much enthusiasm and response, to a simple game, I conjured up to make the SF & Fantasy section a bit more interactive? Just mind-boggling, and I thank you all, so very much, for your participation!! You guys are the best!!
  18. OUR NEXT IMAGE FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION PLAYERS! AS MIKE D, IS 1 GUESS AWAY FROM WINNING, I HAVE CAPTURED A STILL, FROM ONE OF MY COLLECTIONS MOST OBSCURE FILMS, SO STRANGE, WITH ELEMENTS OF SF, FANTASY, AND A LOT OF OTHER WEIRD STUFF, IT COULD NOT BE FOUND IN GOOGLE IMAGES. NO CLUES OTHER THAN..........GOOD LUCK!!!
  19. Sorry guys, both.........STRIKES! Having each given one of your precious guesses, a clue! The film is an odd blend of SF, Fantasy, and a hint of spoofy humor................
  20. Presently at the Electronics Installation stage, for each Sub-assembly built so far. Warp Engines are next, some shots of the wiring harnesses being created, and step-by-step, working their way towards the Base. This a slow and careful stage, everything must work right, and all must also allow for the correct fit of the parts as well.
  21. Thanks, I do like to track down some of the original promo posters if they can be found! Great Movie, very intense, and a tale of great personal sacrifice, unfortunately, a STRIKE!! I appreciate you joining our "little" game J, new round will begin after someone guesses this film, please come back and try again! The more players, the better! There you go, the original Promo Poster for a great film!!
  22. Visually speaking, it does "sort of look" like the Proteus, but it's as far from that Ship, as you can imagine! Nice attempt at analyzing the visual clues though, Jcorley! Do remember, I try and "fool the eye" on my images, and lead you to false conclusions, tricky little Smurfenstein, as Mike as clearly stated! A STRIKE!!....HEHEHEHE......... Earns a clue however, the lead actor was one of "The Great Ones", FROM THAT TIME PERIOD, who passed in the last few years, a great loss, and one of my favorite actors! WHO'S NEXT?
  23. Sorry guys...............both strikes!!! Jcorley, you are correct on the time-line, so there's your clue, but no one's got it........yet!
