  1. Thanks Bill!!!

    Rob,

This is copied off the AA site....

This 1/35th scale conversion by Jon Bottomley converts the DML T34/85 to the Egyptian T34-100 100mm SPG, also using the ICM Soviet 100mm BS-3 gun kit.

The conversion features hollow turret with opening roof panels/hatches, internal detail, ammunition, and drivers & fighting compartment details. External fuel tanks, smoke units and some other hull fittings are also provided along with a replacement engine deck air inlet panel with etched brass mesh and other smaller fittings.

This product is a Double Conversion set and two donor plastic kits are needed to make the vehicle shown in the images.

This breaks down to complete hollow cast turret, All turret panels, a couple interior bits(lights, elevation or deflection handwheel [there is only one included]) and seat, drivers compartment [there are two seats but I have no idea whether or not a radio operator/hull gunner was ever used. There is no radio included with the set. Fighting compartment shell with 6 ammo cases, PE consists of a mesh grill, antenna mount and some shelf box that fits to the lower rear hull between the tow pintles (no idea what this was used for), the smoke cans on the rear hull, fuel pump box, gun cradle for rear hull, and SPO (fancy self recovery tow cable system).

The conversion was designed for the Dragon T-34/85M(3318) and the old SkiF 100mm gun. I opted to use the Trumpeter release(2331). The only issue was I spent about a day gluing the elevation and deflection mechanisms and handwheels only to not have them fit into the turret. Not sure what is different in the Skif kit but The kit intructions tell you to build it gun kit to a certain point and as I did not have the kit, I had no idea where to stop. I assumed the mechanisms were needed. However, after I got the gun in the turret, there is almost no room. I have no idea how the driver or hull gunner ever got into their positions unless they both entered through the driver's hatch.

  2. Tim,

Really???? You just didn't shoot me an email? TMK no one has released a Jagdpanzer conversion. Mr Modelbau makes a Syrian panzer IV conversion and is actually quite decent.

No one seems to know where they came from (France, Czech, Russia, and possibly Spain) so the base color has always been argued. AS the First ones were purchased from Czech, I would assume either the Czech variation of Russian green or actual Russian Green.

    Nice walkarounds here.

The Danville one actually has Israeli made modifications on it. Though TMK, they NEVER actually fielded any of them.

No hull skirts or mounts but they left the turret armor on.

Dragon kits are probably still the best. Dragons, latest non zimmerrritt kits specifically. I used 6594. For an H, I would suggest 6300.

I have done a Panzer IV, Stug III and I will include links to pics when I get home (can't access photobucket from work).

  3. I can ask my Dad but I would guess no. No sure how long he was in the Deuce. I know we were stationed at Dow (I was born there), some place in Michigan, Grand Forks(460th FIS[Cave Tigrims]), Minot (5th FIS[spittin' Kittens]) and Langley (48th FIS[Tazlangleyian Devils]). I know Minot and Langley were the Dart (then the F-15). Not sure about the others.

  4. Gil,

I know this may sound lame.....But why should I have to do all the work? You are correct. I COULD do exactly what you said and I will consider doing just that.

    Mark,

I think part of the issue with not allowing ANYONE to post pictures to the gallery, is the big brother factor. We ( as IPMS/USA) seem to care about the type of pictures that can be posted (nudity/poor taste) and that would be my guess why not everyone is allowed to post to the gallery to their hearts content.

  5. Gentlemen,

I know some of you don't peruse the gallery often or at all. I am hoping this post will change that. We have a Member's gallery and (nothing against him OR his builds) it has basically been ONE modeler sending in his builds. This gallery is the first thumbnail on the gallery webpage and WE really need to increase the number of participants. Those of you that are building and photographing your builds to post in the forum have already gotten over half of what I need to fill the gallery pictures. It is REALLY simple......

3-4 pictures (this is a minimum requirement). Each page can handle 15 pictures. (I would like the model to be completed but showing in progress work is also great)!

Identify the scale, model and manufacturer (again....These are minimums). You can write to your hearts content (I would suggest nothing longer than a paragraph though [people's attention span and such]).

Send to tacomaipms@Comcast.net and I'll get them posted!!!
