  1. Hi All, I was just on Shapeways ordering something I need for Stan to do a project for me and I noticed that they have this https://www.shapeways.com/product/LRBMLWUCY/1-72-radar-mast-for-pt-boat?li=search-results-1&optionId=57951715&rc=SearchResults Seems that the old Revell PT-109/117 kits have one more thing to help them be great models. I guess you could use them on the Revell Vosper too. Tim
  2. Thanks Roktman, I'll look into those seats on Amazon, they're a good price! But, my kit is a single-seater, not a two-seater ... that canopy won't work.
  3. Hi Guys, May I ask you a question? Last year, I bought the MOEBIUS 1:32 TOS BSG Viper from Amazon. I tend wanted decals to make the original Starbuck's Viper (yes, I realize they didn't have those markings on TOS, my nickname in college, 1978-1983, was Starbuck - after that guy, and I wanted to pay 'homage' to that favorite time in my life) a nice man sent me the exact decals I was looking for ... But before then, as I was searching the Net for those decals, I came across (both unfinished and pre-painted versions) resin figures of TOS Viper pilots. Both standing and seated. My builder (I can't build, I've got Cerebral Palsy) has started "my" Viper. Today, I searched the Net for those figures and I can't find them now. Do you guys know who might have produced them? And, where I could get a seated, pre-painted one? If you do, would you please contact me at PTConsultingNHR@aol.com. Thank you, Tim Connelly
  4. Thanks, Paul ........ I'll tell the builder, Stan Pienkowski ... He's doing my TOS Battlestar Galactica Viper now.
  5. If you guys need a SO-type radar for your Merit 1:48 early Elco 80-footer, ... go here: only $16 ... https://www.shapeways.com/product/M7S7KVSS4/1-48-radar-mast-for-pt-boat?li=search-results-1&optionId=57708392
  6. Hello All, I've got a question for the Paint Scheme Gurus here, guys like John Snyder, Randy Short and anyone here who might be able to help me. I'm going to have a model of the USAF 95-foot (94' 11")ASRC built. It's the old LINDBERG kit (about 15 years ago, my brother got it for me on "the evil site" from a guy in Portugal). I'm going to have Stan, my builder, depict it as the boat appeared in the early 1960s - when the 2 95-footers were turned over to the USN as "Beach Jumper" boats ... Mainly because I don't want a model in white, yellow and Day-Glo Orange. HA HA. OK, I got a pair of 1:76 scale quad-50 Maxon mounts for it from Millicast in Scotland which will replace the kit's HORRIBLE 20mm guns and which are correct for the boat ... But, what I need to know is; in the early 1960s, what did the USN paint their wooden craft in? What gray? And what were the decks - a darker gray than the hull? And, the bottom of the boat, would they have used Copperoyd or some other color? Will you please help me? Thank you, Tim

  8. Link goes to a page which says "Sorry, page not found."
  9. Doc, ... Hi. Is any of your 1:72 F-7F Tigercat kits for sale? If so, will you please email me at PTConsultingNHR@aol.com, please? Thanks.
  10. Well, today was the day every week when I go to my model guy's and watch him build my kits. My Heller 1:72 P-47N-2-RE as CHAUTAUGUA is - I'll say 95% complete. It's painted and decaled. All he needs to paint is: the stripes on the wings, the canopy framing, the tailwheel, and inside the cowling, put the HVAR rockets on the wings and the dullcoat and it's done. I've got to say, ... the Heller kit, whereas it's an older kit and it's cockpit is basic at best and there isn't even a decal for the instrument panel, it's not a bad little kit and what I saw - it has a nice tight fit. The landing gear, at least - to me - looks a little tall - but I can't tell ... The KITSWORLD decals are GREAT - really crisp - they provide decals for the propeller but no instructions as to where they go. Had to consult a picture of RED-E-RUTH for that ... but I really, really like the decals!
  11. Hi All, Do any of you remember that special series from Revell back in the 80s? It had a F-15 "Tiger Meet", F-16 "Tiger Meet" and a F-18 (the box says F-18) in a black/white Playboy Bunny scheme from VX-4 at Pax River. Back in the early 2000s (2005/2006) - I had the F-15 built as a 15 of the 101st FIS of the 102 FIW from Otis ANGB. But, I created my own decals for the pilot's name (me, because I can't be a fighter pilot because of my Cerebral Palsy) and nose art. I have the F-18 kit as well. I'm getting ready to have my guy build it soon. I dug it out of of the stash. But, the instructions were gone. I went on Revell's site and downloaded instructions for a F/A-18C. Do you guys know if the "Yeager's Fighters" F-18 is a F/A-18A or C? Additionally, would you guys know if anyone makes a cockpit, ejection seat and canopy for a 1:48 F/A-18? Tim

    P/F-80

Hi Guys, I once read - someplace - that in late 1944/early 1945 - the USAAF sent some P-80s/F-80s to a base in Italy for evaluation. I always have had a question about that. Did those planes fly actual missions? Did they escort bombers? Did they do fighter sweeps? Did they engage German fighters?
  14. I have a question for you plane guys ... P-47Ns, ... like CHATAUQUA, .... Did they have three antennas or just the one? The reason why I'm asking, ... the drawing on the instructions for the decals from KITSWORLD just show the one antenna, but I've seen photos of Ns with three antennas. What's correct? Also, the instructions show the bottom and the wings as blue and a really deep blue - and the photos of Ns seem to point to that they were NMF... Is that right?
  15. No problem ... Jim. I've always liked the P-36 ... Is/was there a 1:72 kit of one? I'm having a guy (I can't build due to my Cerebral Palsy) build me a P-47N with sexy nose-art, the CHATAUQUA ... Should be done this week, but it is no way as good as your P-47, ... it was done OOB for one ... it is the HELLER 1:72 P-47N .... Our next project is the MOBIUS 1:32 TOS GALACTICA Viper as Starbuck's (the male Starbuck) Viper. That's because back in college (1978 -1983) I was called Starbuck (even to this day) ... After that, a LINDBERG Air-Sea-Rescue-Boat, a MERIT early-Elco PT boat, a Hasegawa 1:72 F-106A and then, an ERTL USS ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701) and a MPC USS RELIANT (NCC-1864) and then, I might get a 1:72 P-38, a F-86 and a ME-262 ... I wish I could find a F7-F TIGERCAT (I love those).
  16. Hi Jim, I just went on your club's gallery and saw your models in the gallery section. I've got to tell ya, ... I like your 47, 51 and your Spitfires and that P-36. Tim
  17. Who? Me? Surely you jest. And, stop calling me Shirley... I just like the 17 and 24 as well as the F-7F, P-38, P-59 and F-86 ... Regarding PTs, go down to SHIPS and see the post I posted last evening - it MIGHT redeem me in your eyes after my dalliance to the dark side.
  18. Ed, Thanks! So, the B-17G ... could that be painted in NMF with D-Day stripes and nose-art? The same question can be asked about the B-24J ... Glad to hear that the PBY you talked about is a Black Cat.
  19. Hi All, PACIFIC CROSSROADS MODELS from Russia is doing 2 versions of the SO-Type radar in resin for the Merit 1:48 early-Elco 80-foot PT. They were created from the actual blue-prints of the radar and mast supplied to them by Don Shannon (the PT Co-Ordinator at BATTLESHIP COVE) via me as well as photos sent to them by me. Boris needs commitments from at least 30 modelers to do them in resin. Contact him at pacificcrossroads666@list.ru. From Boris ... "Now I have a question. You yourself will do this radar in plastic or resin ??? If you find at least 30 people who want to buy it. I can probably make it a certain amount of resin ...You can place these photos on any web sites to attract buyers :-)" Tim
  20. Thanks Ed, So, would these be late war versions? B-17G Flying Fortress: Minicraft #14401, Academy #4401, Minicraft #14519 B-24J Liberator: Minicraft #14402 And, the Black Cats were PBY-5As?
  21. Hi All ......... Are there 1:144 kits of a PBY (specifically a 'Black Cat') and a B-17 or a B-24? Additionally, are there 1:72 kits of a F-7F Tigercat, P-59 Airacomet, P-38 Nightfighter and F-86E Sabre? Thanks, Tim
