  1. I've been secretly wanting one of these preferably in styrene for years, ever since I saw my first one in Germany.
  2. Greetings all... I was wondering if there's anyone out there who has ever set up a web page to do online registration for contests. I'm not interested necessarily paying online at this point. There's some serious "resistance" to this within the club so I want to show them that it's perfectly safe and "do-able" for a smaller club to offer. I do possess some website administration skills; but I'm far from being a programmer. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!
  3. I saw an ad in this month's FSM where they're going to release the ambulance version (YW-750?). I might have to pick that one up! Good work, BTW!
  4. I want to complete the Dragon M1A2 SEP in time for SuperCon 2011 in Fort Worth in September! Everyone's gotta have a dream, right?!
  5. This is the method I used on my AFV Club Stryker MGS recently. Still haven't gotten around to painting it yet. I'm putting together a PowerPoint presentation to give at my club's meeting in February. If anyone's interested send me a message directly and I'll put you on the list.
  6. With armor I mostly build my major sub-assemblies (i.e. upper hull, lower hull & turret). I mount my smaller parts (pioneer tools, road wheels, headlight assembly, etc.) onto a piece of cardboard so I can do them all in one fell swoop. I fill obvious gaps and such before painting then go back and fill any that are exposed by the primer. Once I've got all my seams filled and everything is evenly primed then I'll go with a couple coats of my chosen base color. The thing is, just about everyone here will have their own style and methodology. There's not right or wrong way to do it. Everyone has their way of doing it. Cherry pick whatever ideas you find here and formulate your own personal attack plan. We can all learn from each other here.
  7. I really LOVE using Tamiya acrylics! I pretty much use them exclusively! As much as I love the Tamiya acrylics I absolutely HATE the Testors MM acylics. IMHO they are total crap! Again, just MY opinion though. I've never gotten the results I've wanted with them. If there's any way around it I'll never use Testors' acrylics again. That is strictly with the MM acylic line. I do LOVE the rest of Testors' MM product line though.
  8. I'm not much of a fan of uni-taskers... I use white Elmer's glue...cheap and multifunctional!
  9. Well, that depends largely on the paint I'm using... For the most part I use Tamiya acrylics. To clean up after these I use either rubbing alcohol or Windex. When I'm using enamels I use cheap Walmart paint thinner. I've never had any problems with either.
  10. Yeah, that's it! Janets are civil aircraft chartered by "entities of the government" that in this case ferry people to and from a certain "Area" nearby...that's if you believe the conspiracy theorists anyway... Not that such an area even exists anymore...
  11. Oddly enough, I can't do 1:48 or 1:35 scale figures worth a darn! I can wire up a prop with an engine and an on/off switch; but put a figure in front of me and I'm dead in the water!
  12. Thanks for the correction David!
  13. Greetings all! I'd like some opinions from the peanut gallery. First off, I'm mostly an armor guy. This will be my first foray into the aircraft arena since I was knee high to a grasshopper! I've got a 1:48 scale Tamiya Ki-84 Frank, one of the "prop action" kits. What I'm planning to do is replace the kit supplied engine with a bigger one capable of more torque and adding a toggle switch so someone can turn it on and off at their liesure. I'm planning to put this on a simple base perhaps to look as though it's on the carrier deck ready for launch. So, having said all this my question is: If you were judging, would you expect this to go into the dio category or simply in it's respective aircraft category? I'm using the Frank as a primer to possibly work up to a B-17 with all motors running! Your thoughts and opinions are welcome as always! TIA

Good eye, Robert! I didn't even catch that!

I agree! That is a really nice build! One of these days I'll get to the Dragon M1A2 SEP that I've got waiting in the wings.
