  1. "Howdy" from Texas, Rudolfo! Hope you can make it to the Vegas show this summer.
  2. Thanks Dave. I'll give them a chance to wake up and get to work (or their workspace at home) and contact them.
  3. When will the list of candidates for all offices be posted on the IPMS Forum? That would allow members to ask questions of the candidates When will voting begin? When does voting close?
  4. I need to replace the windscreen, part #24 on the Trumpeter 32nd TBM-3 Avenger kit, kit # 2234. Any suggestions?
  5. This is the old Academy 32nd scale Nieuport 17. Not a very good kit, and certainly not one of my better efforts, but it was an enjoyable build.
  6. Can someone provide the name of the hotel/convention center which served as home base for the 2006 Convention in K.C.?
  7. To quote Mr. Ed, "Time Flies", and so do all the great aircraft models pictured above! Well done!
  8. You've got SKILLS! The snow looks outstanding, face looks great and the eyes are very good. I particularly like the shadows on the jacket.
  9. The Goodyear blimp, in its current configuration is 192 feet in length. Measure the length of the model and, as my 7th grade teacher said, "do the math".
  10. Just in communication with Gator Glue. GG is an acrylic-based glue that is often used to attach clear parts or replace small window glass in airplanes, ships, etc. Kenny, the proprietor/owner/creator, of this glue has indicated that he will cease the manufacture of this excellent glue. It seems that the damage and devastation for this season's hurricanes are at fault. You might want to visit your LHS (local hobby shop) TODAY and procure a couple of bottles of this excellent product while it is still available.
  11. Wow! That's a great deal of high caliber work! I'm looking forward to pics of the completed diorama.
  12. I did a little googling and found this:" In most cases, your tolls and service fees will be charged to the credit card used to rent the vehicle. Most rental car agencies use third-party companies to manage toll charges for their vehicles, including Rent-A-Toll, Highway Toll Administration, and PlatePass. If you expect to travel on a toll road, ask your rental car agency ahead of time for their policies and procedures for collecting tolls. Fees and other policies vary from one rental agency to another." To see more go to https://www.txtag.org/en/about/faq_rental.shtml Also, if you are flying into Austin from the UK you may be better off just going to the convention site on Interstate 35 South. The airport is on the south side of Austin and the traffic is usually not as bad at that point.
  13. One comment I would add that this point is that the event is in San Marcos, Texas. We recommend that you fly into Austin. The convention is providing sprinter vans to transport attendees from the Austin airport to San Marcos. Take a look at Google Maps. If you are driving in from the north there is a toll road that bypasses Austin. It's marked as "130". Traffic in Austin can be time consuming and frustrating, so if you don't mind paying out some money, "130" will avoid that traffic. The posted speed limit for much of "130" is 80mph. One does not stop at toll booths but do expect a bill in the mail, you'll notice the overhead cameras taking a picture of your license plates.
  14. Contact registrar.nats2020@gmail.com. Provide the name as you wish it to read on the Name Badge. Or at the convention when you check in inform the volunteer that you wish to have a Name Badge for your wife, and provide the name as you wish it to appear. A Name Badge can be printed out for you onsite.
  15. Just a reminder that ModelFiesta 39 is approaching (Feb 15th) and that we are, once again, offering the opportunity for those entering the contest to pre-register their model entries. Go to the website (http://www.alamosquadron.com/) and click on ModelFiesta, then go to the information regarding registration forms and paperwork. You only need to submit two forms (although that might be more that just two pieces of paper.) 1. List all of your entries on the Model Registration Summary Form. 2. List each individual entry on its own Individual Model Entry Form. (for ex...if you enter 10 models you will need to submit 10 Ind. Model Entry Forms and only one Summary Form) Payment will be collected when you arrive and report to the Pre-Registration Station. And remember, those who Pre-Register will receive a 10% discount on their total registration fee. Send your forms to mfregistrar@gmail.com (that would be me) via email. Once the forms are received and processed you'll receive an email with some additional information that will shorten your time waiting in line. Important E-Mail Contact Update: For contact with Alamo Squadron leadership pertaining to any club issues or questions please e-mail us at:
  16. Thanks Bryan. That corroborates research I've done, but that nose cone had me confused. I have found that the "silver backpack" is actually a "hatch" or "door" to an unknown space ship. Not going to try and build the original models as I don't have all the parts but I can see these scraps being incorporated into a kit bash.
  17. Any idea as to which kit(s) these parts might go to? Lindberg and Strombecker had a series of space ships that used parts similar to these. Note that the parts are molded in silver and white.
  18. Hope to have it finished by year's end. I'll post some pics when completed.
  19. A kit that is seldom seen, been on the stash shelf for a number of years. Thought I'd do something other than rigging biplanes for awhile. I'm well into assembly but an early choice must be made.....build it as is or try to improve the fit of various sub-assemblies such as the four engine nacelles and the nose sub-assembly. And let's not talk about the cockpit, does not live up to the detail molded on the vehicle body. Anyway, moving along now that the seams have been filled.....
