  1. Hi Garth: How about a New Italeri MAS - would that fit? Dave
  2. James: Something I was thinking about as far as the cockpit and prices. Looking over the last year or two's 1/32 scale releases, I think the average price is ~$165 or so so the $100 isn't too bad. I think your pit looks great and there always has to be room for the aftermarket guys to chime in with PE, etc...... I guess the days of cheaper models is gone which is why I have gotten more discretionary about what I buy Dave
  3. I like it!!!!! I love the Moebius stuff- the Jupiter 2 is looking great plus the fl;ying sub, mummy, lots and Frank is promising a banner 2010 I am working on his Conan kits now for the reviewer corps- very nice! Dave
  4. Dick: Cost is not bad really. like Mike said- things just aren't cheap. Heck, Tamiyas new Spitfire is $150; the Hasegawa 1/72 B-24's are almost $100 Hope we get a sample too! Dave
  5. James: Sooooo looking forward to this one Dave
  6. And is going in the mail for review Tuesday to one of the IPMS Reviewer Corps- looks great! Dave
  7. Hi: Aves Apoxie scupt. Water thinable and smoothable (minimal to no sanding and cures quick enough for me). No need for any major sanding. Mix, push on, use water the smooth and fill- let dry and a touch of sandpaper and perfect seam. Also can be sculpted to replicate hair, mising parts, etc unlike some other fillers I like Mr. Surfacer also for the pinholes David Fishers Modelmania videos (Volumes 1 and 2 maybe) show use of the stuff where he resculpts a major portion of a figure using this and some other tyhings Dave
  8. Good question For me there are two answers- I love OOB so even for a Sherman (gasp) or some aircraft, I wouldn't do it. BUT, there are certain things, to me, that do not look right without it and one is ships. Doig the railings on a ship cannot be done any other way that I know of (plasitic, scratchbuilding, etc,) other than PE. I must say that aromor with it does look cooler to. I guess the botton line is it is a personal choice. I started by buying seat belt sets and own a bunch of it especially for subs and armor and some planes. I do think it was a natuiral progressin for me Dave
  9. I thought it was "man" scale. kinda like a Lab vs. a "pants" puppy LOL Dave
  10. Mark: Did kind of the same thing with paint. I underthined it so it still sprayed but not to the smooth finish, to a more dry and rough finish. Tooka few attempts but by dry spraying it, put some texture on it Dave

    SON OF BUN

LOL The Build or Die Shirts are great Dave
  12. Welcome Back Michael: Web site looks great especially the ZERo- would lov a review on that color Zero. Love the armor also! Have fun.. Dave
  13. Mike: Another possibility is that you are using too fast of a thinner (or too much). By using too fast (think evaporates quickly), the material evaporates before it has a chance to form a film. This has it uses and why thinner matters sometimes Silly String works that way somewhat too. Dave
  14. And not for something comepltely different I have 200 built models from planes to subs to figures. I l;et the moving company pack and move them all. About 95% came through perfect. Some needed some work- I backcharged the movinf comapny for my time and they paid me to fix them. To be fair to Greg, I did throw 2 out- they were early and had been dropped a couple times, etc. For going to show, I use cottom batting (thing the fluffy, furry stuff and pack them in tupperware containers Dave
  15. Mark: I would expect that more of Aires. QB is meant to be inexpensive and simple replacements (they are that side of Aires- our contact is even the same). I expect fit is left to the modeler Dave
  16. Hi jack: Assume you mean Jerry Crandall- he is a Manufacturing Member- Business member- I forget what it is called. Kit is due in June- IPMS will have our review copy later this month- early next. Dave
  17. Gil: Important point to remember with almost every model company- NONE of them are modelers or historians- it is their living. There are a few exceptions (the original Accurate Miniatures come to mind) I saw the hissy fit and still can't see the mistake but I admit I really am not a 109 fan in the least. Floyd Werner is building our review sample and I am sure he will mention it. Doesn't look like there is a easy fix though Dave
  18. Me too- OMG. A great idea and execution Dave
  19. Nice but way too rich for my blood I'll stick to nice $150 figures Dave
  20. SAC is much better and the cast legs from G Factor are even better yet. Nothing perfect but these are much better. I know there is a review of the SAC gear in the review section plus the Trumpeter 1/32 F8 was built with a set of the gear and it corrected a perceived stance issue Dave
  21. Let me check when I get home tonight - G Factor has a lot of Brass sets coming out- they are strong and wonderfully detailed Dave
